Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of 1GB Xd Picture Card Type H

Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 5 Stars

This is a Type H card - I just recieved it (3-20-2008 - FujiFilm branded as shown on Amazon). It works great (put in my camera, formatted and it works just fine). Something to note, the manufacturers have moved to making/selling the Type M card (dropping Type H), however the Type H is much faster (read/write speeds). Its probably cheaper to produce the Type M...as no explanation of why the change took place was ever given. So if you want the fastest Xd card you can get, get this Type H card, while they're still around (you'll notice you can't get Olympus 1GB Type H's anymore...and who knows how long these Fuji's will be around).

As a memory type, the Xd card format is a slower card, if you have a camera that takes another kind of memory card in addition to the Xd (like an Olympus DSLR that takes CF too) you can bet the other card type will be faster at saving and transferring those pics you just took. However most of us are stuck with Xd and only Xd for our particular camera, and in that case this Type H is the way to go while you can still get them.

Customer Review: Worst digital media I've ever had
Summary: 1 Stars

I bought this thinking it was supposed to shorten the time between taking pictures. However, I didn't realize that it was make me wait at least 30 seconds after turning my camera on to be able to take or view a picture. This thing is terrible! I made sure it was compatible with my camera before I bought it, and the olympus site says it is. It neglects to say don't be in a hurry to take a picture. I'm very unhappy with this product. My regular xD card works much better. Another problem I have with it that I've never had with a media card is that sometimes when I go back to view photos it says the file is corrupted and you can't look at the picture.

Camera: Olympus Stylus 300

Customer Review: Nice, but wears the batteries out quicker
Summary: 4 Stars

CAPACITY: It's nice to not have to swap cards out as often on our (now-way-out-dated 2 y.o. 5mp) camera. It does hold a lot of pictures, even at the finest settings.

POWER HOG: But it seems to make the camera work harder ... thus wearing the batteries out sooner. (Gotta switch to rechargables.)

ISSUES: Also, oddly enough, when we started using this card, the camera now freezes up occasionally. Either as it's sending the lens out, thus unable to focus until the camera is turned off and back on again (if you can), or it just plain freezes all processes. It takes a minute before we can power it off, sometimes only by dis-/reconnecting the batteries.

Customer Review: Works
Summary: 4 Stars

I was curious to see if this card was indeed faster than my previous "type m" one. I find Xd cards to be quite slow and that was frustrating. I popped it into my Fuji V10, recognized it no problem, no formatting, and off I went. I noticed in camera performance improved somewhat. Reviewing one picture to the next was a bit faster. Then I plugged it into my computer and downloaded my shots. This time it was very noticeable. Much faster for me. So if you need a bigger card, or a faster one, go right ahead. The prices are down on Xd cards and I found the the type H faster, so there's no need to hesitate. Happy shooting.

Customer Review: Olympus XD 1gb memory card
Summary: 5 Stars

We have a Fuji camera and have used Fuji cards and various other highly rated and some not so highly rated cards over the five years we have owned this camera. I have to say that there are no derrogatory remarks for me to make about the Olympus card. I have been able to make some mighty fine enlargements and movie clips with the Olympus card and I have not been able to find a single fault. The color, contrast, pixel retention and focus of the images have been absolutely great. There has been no discernable degredation of quality with the Olympus card. I now actually favor the Olympus card over the others we own.
