Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with Three-Lever Throttle (PZ44)Customer Review: This is SWEEEEET! Summary: 5 Stars
If I could give it more stars, I would.
I waited a long time before replacing my CH yoke, which I loved. THis is better. WAY more accurate, WAY smoother. I would rather it had no center detents, but it's not much detraction to have the bump there.
I also purchased the second throttle quadrant. The quadrant that comes with the yoke is PS/2 -ed into the yoke, and the second quadrant is USB. How convenient, a USB hub on the back of the yoke! But it doesn't play well when I first boot the computer. I have to unplug the USB quadrant from the yoke or the yoke won't initiallize. So I am plugging the second quadrant into another USB on the computer. A power supply for the yoke would probably cure this, but I haven't read all the reviews and I"m sure someone already reported on this by now.
No phantom button presses, and more buttons to progran than I can think of what to do with them.
I LOVE this, and I highly recommend it to others, even over the CH yoke.
Customer Review: 4 1/2 stars!! The best Yoke/Throttle for the money. Summary: 4 Stars
This yoke comes with a seperate throttle quadrant which can be attached on the left or right side of the yoke which means you can simulate flying from the Right or left seat. The throttle, prop, and mixture controls are realistice and feel good sliding back and forth. The built in timer is a must for serious simmers for timing approaches and holding patterns. Also, it displays system time when in clock mode.
This yoke fells really good in your hands, reminds me the Piper aircraft yokes, the steel shaft slides smoothly in and out, and plenty of buttons for all the important flight and aircraft controls. I usually have 4 unassigned buttons left over.
I couldn't attach it to my desk because I had a keyboard drawer that interfered with the clamp, but I used two strips of double sided tape and it stayed put very nicely.
This is a quality product and far superior to the CH yoke which I've never owned but I've used it at a display at a pilot shop before.
Customer Review: Great product with some basic knowledge. Summary: 4 Stars
This in my honest opinion is a great product. However using the include software I have found to be a bit tricky and certainly time consuming to get set up. Be sure to explore all the option available on the yoke in order to find what works best for you the HAT switch alone has three or four different modes. I have found that the best way to use this yoke is to completely utilize the software other that the axes don't program ANYTHING through the game its self. This is my opinion on it after a few months of use now and I really enjoy it you just have to put in the work to get it setup then it is amazing. Also I have had the phantom key issue however the solution to it is simple DON'T program ANYTHING other than the axes in game. I have enjoyed using it with FSX and FS2004. And if you check Saitek's website you can find some button profiles that can help you get started in setting it up. Hope this helps anyone out there who is looking at purchasing this product.
Customer Review: Beware of dead zone in Saitek yoke. CH Products yoke is better. Summary: 2 Stars
I've been a flight simulator enthusiast for years. When I first started this hobby years ago, CH Products was the only affordable yoke around, and it worked great.
Recently I decided to try the Saitek yoke, figuring that the ball bearings and metal shaft would be superior to the CH Products yoke. Not true at all. Saitek, for some reason, puts a dead zone in the middle. Turning the yoke about 10 degrees in either direction from center has no effect. This is true of both axes. This makes the plane much harder to control. Fine aileron and elevator control is very difficult, and smooth landings are much harder.
I can't understand why Saitek would do this. Don't they know that dead zones kill playability?
So I decided to try the CH Products Eclipse yoke. Much, much better! The CH Products yoke has no dead zones and fine control is vastly superior. I returned the Saitek yoke.
Customer Review: Promises, promises Summary: 3 Stars
My first purchase of this product a couple of years ago resulted in a fine product in a box with little help included to understand it's operation. After a few months of use, it totally failed. I stored it and went to another system. A year later, I decided to give it another chance but it was still inoperative. I spent hours and hours on the internet with the manufacturer, the re-seller and user forums trying to find a solution to the failure. I got some nice responses from forums, but the manufacturer was marginally responsive but offered no solutions or resolutions. The seller was non-responsive. The product, however, is well designed and after shopping for better applications, I had to admit that poor service and support notwithstanding, the Saitek Pro Flight Yoke & Throttle is, on balance, still the best out there, so I purchased another one. Now, time will tell if that was the right decision.
