Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Saitek Pro Flight Yoke with Three-Lever Throttle (PZ44)

Customer Review: Well made, poor instructions
Summary: 3 Stars

The yoke was easy to install and start using with MS Flight X, but the instructions for tailoring the controls were unclear and their tech support was of no help. They direct you to the user forum for the product to get help with the device. The irony was that they don't accept forum members with gmail addresses, and once I did get activated on the forum there was no help for my question.

The yoke and MS Flight software were purchased to use as an aide in my lessons to become a private pilot. In order to do that I needed to assign some of the controls to give a more realistic experience. For example, I wanted to assign one of the levers to the flaps but couldn't get it to happen. As mentioned above I was directed to the user forum for help, but with no success.

I'm using the yoke, but not exactly as how I hoped. I've kept the box in anticipation of selling it in the near future.

Customer Review: Saitek Flight Pro Yoke and Throttle Module
Summary: 4 Stars

I am using the Saitek Flight Pro system on an HP m8100n computer system with Microsoft Flight Simulator X Deluxe (FSX). The system is well built and plugs right into any USB port. I did install the Saitek programming software, but subsequently removed it. The documentation concerning how to use the software is not very good. Actually, it is of little use. The yoke and throttle modules have worked well. However, I do have to re-calibrate the yoke each time I start FSX. The elevator control portion of the yoke is very sensitivity and has to be re-calibrated each time one starts the simulator.

I did remove one of the springs associated with centering the elevator to obtain a more realistic feel.

I would buy it again. The 4 stars rather than 5 is because of the poor controller software documentation and having to re-calibate after each startup of the simulator software.

Customer Review: Pro Flight Yoke and Throttle lever
Summary: 4 Stars

HOLY C**P, what a cool product. It was ready to go right out of the box. PC loaded it within 2 minutes and was "flying" right afterwards. What a change from a joystick(not that I don't still use it to fly helicopters) but man what a reality change. Easy set up, basically, plug and play. Used the "soft keys" to add functions and even used P-touch to label functions so I could remember, since there was a lot of them I used all 20. FUN FUN FUN. If you were ever considering getting one, GET IT, it's well worth it and my hats off to AMAZON for a great price (it beat everyone else's hands down). The reviews that came out with it, did it justice. It's everything they said it was and then some. It really enhances the simulator experience. From novice to expert, I highly recommend this to the serious and even the semi serious simulator fanatics out there. You won't be disappointed.

Customer Review: Does the job.
Summary: 3 Stars

I suppose it's the best available for the price. Besides the much lauded metal shaft with bearings, I was surprised at how cheaply constructed this product is. It feels very fragile, like you could crack the thin plastic with little force. The throttle quad is also quite insubstantial, giving the impression that they could easily snap off. I guess I'm just used to racing on my G25, a very high quality peripheral.
Also, I was surprised to learn that the yoke only has 45 degrees travel in either direction from center. Almost all aircraft yokes have 90 degrees travel from center. This makes for an undesireable input curve to the sim.
Again, in this price range it's about the only thing available. You'll probably have to spend $700+ for the next best product. But still, on the basis of quality of materials and construction, this one is disappointing.

Customer Review: Saitek Flight Yoke and Throttle Quadrant - Not quite there yet
Summary: 3 Stars

This yoke and quadrant have a lot of potential. I really like using them, but am getting the random key presses from time to time. Have tried all kinds of things, including disabling the yoke from FSX and configuring all button presses and axis settings via FSUIPC. Still get the occasional random change of view, gear up, etc. But this can be a great product; makes FS much more enjoyable and realistic (depending on what plane you fly).

I encourage SAITEK to take these reports of random changes seriously. No doubt, there are more of these problems going on than get reported. You have a great product. Please improve your manufacturing quality and testing. You've made a great decision to build these products and, once everybody can rely on their quality, you'll sell a ton of 'em. I have to return mine; hoping to get the fixed yoke next round. B2K
