Does exactly what it says it does.
The heap o' stuff that comes out of the box can be a little scary, but after fifteen minutes or so you start to figure out whats what.
The cameras and DVR appear to be very well made. The cameras feel solid in the hand.
The cables may not be very weather resistant and the camera mounting hardware is a little cheap.
Running cable is the tough part, everything else is quite easy.
Video quality is good. You are not going to watch your favorite blue-ray disc on this system, but you can very clearly make out faces and details.
Motion activation works great during daylight hours. It only takes two minutes to review the daylight video since it only records when motion is detected. It also allows you set the senstivity to motion and where in the camera frame to allow or disable motion detection. Say there is a busy street in the camera view and you don't want the camera activating for every passing car, you can disable motion detection in that area, but keep it the areas you want.
Motion detection during the night is a little touchy. Pollen and dust moving in the wind are lit up by the IR lights at night and trip the motion detection. Reviewing the night vidio requires more time and more attention since the motion detectors are always picking up the movement of the dust and pollen, even at minimum sensitivity. I estimate over 90% of the recorded video is at night because of false movement.
I've not hooked it up to the internet yet, so I can't say anything about that just yet.
Overall I'm happy I spent the money on this system. Eight cameras plus expansion for an additional eight is a great feeling. You need not worry if you are going to need to leave any area uncovered, you can cover them all.
