I read all of the reviews before purchasing this product and it did perform just as described. I am very happy using it with my S9100 and have been able to shoot a lot more clear pictures with it than without it. The built-in flash was so limiting and now I can do so much more. The only draw back was that I had to read the owners manual in order to set it up correctly. I have a Canon DSLR. For external flashes, I had always relied on Vivatar. Based on other users reviews, this flash was selected. Battery usage is economical (even on full power). I use this flash and camera primarily for indoor sports (basketball and racquetball pictures) and it has performed flawlessly. I've played with both the automatic and manual settings and all pictures turned out as expected.Customer Review: Good flash for the price

I use this flash in an off-camera setup with a remote. Because of this I sometimes miss the ability to zoom the flash head, but it's not a terrible inconvenience. When used on-camera or off the bounce/swivel head is very useful. The automatic sensor works as suggested. This flash will throw plenty of light for most people's needs. I purchased my Sunpak 383 Super a little over three years ago for my Fuji digital camera. Not only is it easy to use, but is has great battery life and is very inexpensive for what you get. I have used it in a number of locations including auditoriums and other large rooms with very impressive results. Very good GN power. Mutiple angle degrees. Very poowerful and great results.
No TTL, but good chance to learn the relationship between flash light and distance.
Operating board is very cheap quality. this one could be improved a little bit.
You pay what you get. Pretty good flash light. Very good GN power.
