When my PS3 broke a few weeks ago I decided to turn the 40GB Hard Drive into a portable drive. I chose this unit for its features and un-beatable price. It comes with a USB Cable, Fake Leather Case (for the enclosure) and a aluminum and plastic casing unit with a mini screw driver and 2 screws to secure the hard drive in the case. It was very easy to install and it works on my PC and my Mac (running Vista and Mac OSX Snow Leopard) It is very small and the case gives me slightly more peace of mind although I wouldn't trust this case against a drop It doesn't have any shock support and its pretty thin. For use on a desk and in a pocket or backpack its great to transfer data, store data or back it up. I would recommend this product but not if you need something really durable. What's there to say about an enclosure? The drive fit, it protects the drive and provides a power connector. That's what I needed and it serves the purpose well. It even came with a leather pouch to store it in.Customer Review: works, but not great.

after my Laptop physically broke in half I decided to switch to a desktop for price and power reasons, the only way to retrieve data was to use an adapter because my laptop was completely broken. after about 5 minutes of fiddling I decided that the hard drive would never fit inside the case and so I am forced to use it just as a plug on the end of the hard drive, this might help with cooling issues but is definitely more susceptible to damage. if only the case was slightly wider or had square sides instead of round it would have been perfect.Customer Review: Beware of drive size limitation, 160GB Max

I initially used this device as a means of cloning my old drive onto a newer drive in my laptop. It worked great. The old drive was a 160GB, and the new drive in the laptop was a 320GB.
I've since tried doing the opposite since I was going to try and install Windows 7 on the old drive and then swap the images again. NO GO! The Enclosure will not support the larger drive.
In referencing Startech's website and the product manual it actually indicates Hard Drive support of 120GB, however as I mentioned above it does supports 160GB.
Bottom line I wish the drive limitation was more clear in the Amazon specs.
