Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of StarTech 18in SATA to Right Angle SATA Serial ATA Cable (SATA18RA1)

Customer Review: Works as intended, but be wary of the direction of the right angle end.
Summary: 5 Stars

As the title suggests. However, be mindful of where you're using the cable in your computer. The right angle end of the SATA cable is built in a way where the cable will be directed downwards when inserted properly. So theoretically, if you're inserting the right angle end of the cable into a hard drive that's placed in the bottom of your computer and faces the computer cover (such as the Dell XPS 420), then the cable will need to loop upwards towards the other SATA insert, which will create tension to the wiring when placing the cover back in place. That's not the manufacturer's fault, of course, but again, be careful.

Customer Review: 90 degree plug, may or may not be problem
Summary: 4 Stars

I was fully aware of the 90 degree plug on one end and actually ordered it for that reason. I wanted to plug it into my DVD drive at the top of my case so a 90 degree plug sounded like a great idea. The issue is, the 90 degree plug is upside down. It is designed to go from the bottom of the case up, not the top of the case down. It still worked, I just had to essentially put it in upside down, but at 18 inches it was plenty long enough anyway.

Just something you should keep in mind when ordering. Otherwise it is a great cable and either way it's worth the $1-$2 you pay for it.

Customer Review: The angle plug is designed in the wrong side.
Summary: 2 Stars

This product is cheap / very affortabe. This is the pros. This is a positive credit for the seller. The seller shipped the product promptly. Another positive.

But it is designed wrong on the angle interface - the cable will facing the OUT of the computer case for most of the hard drive mount so that the computers can not close the cover. The angle pins should be reversed so that it points inward toward the computer, not block the case cover.

I swapped it with the DVD ROM cable which is internal.

Customer Review: Great Cables, shipping bad..
Summary: 5 Stars

The cables are great, the 90 degree angle allows them to fit in my case better. My HDD mounts with the back toward the door so having the cable angle down keeps it out of the way of my door.

The shipping was terrible. I ordered these from Amazon because of normally fast shipping. When I ordered them, the delivery date was 10 days away. I got other cables since that was too far away from when I needed them. They were delivered in 14 days. I could have walked them here from where they were shipped. Maybe they did...

Customer Review: StarTech 18in SATA to Right Angle SATA Serial ATA Cable (SATA18RA1)
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been using this since late February of this year (2011). Both ends of the cable fit into their respective parts perfectly, i.e., the motherboard and the SATA drive.

One good feature this cable has is its ability to fit its right-angle end onto the SATA drive using some sort of clip that makes it easy to attach to the drive without it slipping. And the clip makes it easy to remove the cable from the drive without having to use force - just press down on the clip and it's on & off.
