This product worked exactly as advertised. It was a little bit heavy and clunky, but well worth it to protect my laptop. I'd read other reviews that warned that these converters can get very hot, so I was on the lookout for fire hazards. However, after leaving it plugged in all day, it was actually cooler than the original powerbox of my laptop. I'd highly recommend this product, it worked perfectly. One caveat: it only comes with a two-round-prong plug, so if your outlet is different, (like mine in the UK) you WILL need an adapter plug. Luckily I had one. This product worked flawlessly. It's small, well built and tough. However, it's not fused! I read several negative reviews. Nearly all of them complain it burned out trying to provide MORE POWER (over 200 watts) than it's built for. This is perfect for (most) laptops, camera and cell phone chargers. It WILL BURN OUT trying to push blow dryers, curling irons, multiple external peripherals to a laptop, etc. Volts times amps = watts. It will only support 110 volt devices that draw at TOTAL of 1.8 amps or less. Read your labels before buying!!Customer Review: beware of popping the fuse

I used this in Korea, and it worked well for all my cameras, laptops and tech products. I noted a previous review about hair curling irons, and I tried it, and it worked well. Here is something to note about hair dryers, however. It was working well in cold mode, and I increased it, and then popped a fuse. Just make sure the voltage is less than 200 Watts, and it will work fine. Otherwise, the fuse will pop, and the product is useless, as well as your other products that you need charged. The Simran converter was used to supply my wife's hair flattener in the Philippines,(40W 110V). The plug had to be changed to the standard 2 prong used in the US. Quick trip to the hardware store fixed that in the States. I plugged it in 110V here in the States to see if it would put out 60V as read on an AC DVM. All was OK. Arrival in the Philipens proved a success. The unit worked flawlessly. We left it there as we had no use for it here. I have been using the step down converter since May 1 in China for my Dell XPS M1330 and iphone and it has worked quite well, doing what it was intended for. I will be out here for the rest of May and hope htat it will continue to work and hold up until then. The charge time seems comporable or a bit quicker to the USA and the outlets we have back there. a very good product, good price and good size for the step down converter. I would certainly recommend it for anyone who needs to be out in a China with USA electronics.
