Customer Review: works with Bodum coffee grinder
Summary: 5 Stars

This converter finally works fine with my Bodum coffee grinder bought in the U.S which draws circa 160 W. With the previous converter I had to literally "start" the grinder by pressing the on switch multiple times until the thing cranked up. Maybe it was a problem with the converter which claimed max capacity of 1600 W or with the lousy connection since I had to use outlet converter in addition to the voltage converter. With the Simran there is no need to use the outlet converter because it already comes with the right outlet. Also, the connection between the appliance and the converter is firm. Because it fits my need I am going to rate it with 5 stars, although other reviews are right with the drawbacks (fuse, grounding).

Customer Review: Heavy but handles power well
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this to connect to a 110 v Belkin power strip overseas. Most step down converters don't have a triple-plug connection, but this one does. It also has polarized plug connections for two-prong plugs. I have hooked this up to two massage devices at once overseas and it worked well. The generic round prongs work well in China (except they have a tendency to slip out of outlets--which is a problem with the outlets and design rather than this device) and work well with international adapters. For anyone who needs something robust for overseas electrical needs, this would be a good choice. However, it's heavy. If you're concerned about luggage weight, you may want to carry this one in your carry-on bag.

Customer Review: Very heavy, but worked great
Summary: 4 Stars

I took this adapter with me on a trip to Italy. I choose this adapter because it was one of the few that took a 3-prong device which I needed for my laptop. 200 watts is also higher than most other adapters on Amazon.

I had no issues powering my laptop, hair straightener and other various charging devices. Just check the wattage on everything before you plug it in and make sure it's under the 200 watts. This of course meant I had to leave my hair dryer at home.

The cord on it was really handy as the outlets in my hotel room were in inconvenient places.

My only complaint was the heavy, bulkiness to it. It's a brick! I still managed fine, even putting it in my carry on.

Customer Review: Worked like a charm for me
Summary: 4 Stars

I used the converter on my recent 10-day trip to Germany. Specifically, it was used to run my laptop and charge the battery to my digital camera. It worked perfectly the entire time. Having the US standard plug away from the wall socket is a particularly helpful feature. It is a convenient size for travel and fit neatly in my suitcase. In my experience with heavy duty converters from my Army tour in Germany, which were seriously heavy, the weight of this unit is not excessive.

The unit does run hot,and I would stand it up to expose more surface area. As other reviewers have pointed out, if the unit is fused, the fuse is not accessible without opening up the unit (I have not checked).

Customer Review: Works great but buy adapters to go with it
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought two of these before we made a trip to Ireland. I was thinking that we would have limited time to fool around with recharging stuff and with a cell phone, laptop, camera and a pocket PC to keep running we could definitely use two. I was right in that respect but after looking at other reviews I thought this would be all I needed. After we checked into our hotel I found out I needed an adapter. Fortunately the hotel let me put a down a deposit and gave me a loaner to use. Bad news was we could then only use one of the two converters we brought. Moral of the story. The adapters aren't that expensive. Buy several. The product works great so long as you can manage to get it plugged in!
