Customer Review: Long Cord is the BEST!
Summary: 5 Stars

The best thing about this transformer is the long cord between the European plug and the American outlet/box. The reason for this is twofold. First, it gives you some extension, in addition to the cord on your electronic item, if the outlet in your hotel room (or wherever) isn't close to were you need it. Second, the plug fits in the recessed, round European outlets perfectly! My husband has a transformer that is just a European plug directly on the transformer box/outlet, and it doesn't fit into the round recessed "holes" that all European outlets seem to be located in. He needs a simple converter like you use on battery charging electronics along with his transformer.

You don't need one of these for iPods, Kindles, etc. But, surprisingly we discovered that you do need one to charge Nintendo DS's - and, of course, for non-battery electronics (blow dryers, curling irons, white noise machines, etc.)

Customer Review: Decent transformer
Summary: 5 Stars

We purchased 5 of these for our move to Sweden 6 months ago and all are still working. Three are used on a continuous basis for clock radio/CD players while the other two are used occasionally for chargers and other things that aren't universal. The transformers get a little warm but not enough to be an issue. The devices we use on this transformer are only about 30 watts so I can't say how it will perform when you get closer to 200W. Just to be safe, I purchased transformers that were more than double of what I needed.

The only thing I don't like is the fact that the transformers aren't properly grounded even though there is a hole for grounded prong on the output. It would have been pretty simple to add proper grounding so it doesn't make sense to me that they didn't do it.

Overall, they do what they are supposed to do and were relatively inexpensive.

Customer Review: Worked as advertised
Summary: 5 Stars

This unit accompanied us to London in January of '10. It worked as advertised. We used it to charge batteries for cameras and shaver. A hair dryer that was planned for use worked directly off the local Voltage. Check the manufacturer's label - many small appliances will now work without a step down transformer. I recommend the transformers that use a pig-tail cord. It does add some bulk, but overseas bathrooms are not always generous with receptacles and they can be placed in a space too confining for the wall mounted transformer types to fit. I pinged it 1 star for size (compared to others) but would buy this one again.

BTW who knows what that last attribute is looking for; "Unit died after minimum use". Huh? I suppose giving it 5 stars means that it didn't break. Or does that mean it broke right out of the box? Or is it (most likely) just a clumsily worded question?

Customer Review: Doing well first but ...
Summary: 1 Stars

Yesterday I used it with a Honeywell HHT-011 Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter as usual Honeywell HHT-011 Compact Air Purifier with Permanent HEPA Filter , I just woke up morining only to find that the purifier is not working , I told to my self it must be the device , then I checked the converter only to see that the RED indicator light of the converter is not working ,I disassemble the converter no fuse nothing weird .

It's up to you to buy this converter I have a second one and let's see how many months/days it will gonna last with me .

I'll keep you updated with a second review about this , I guess I'm lucky enough to not lose the purifier itself, although I lost the 20 $ plus the international shipping fees .

Customer Review: Works just like it says
Summary: 5 Stars

I like how it has a cord so that it can sit on the floor and not weigh down the plug that is in the wall. It worked great for my curling iron and travel straightener. I never tried it with a regular straightener. My travel blow dryer said it was low wattage, and I pluged it in without this converter and it blew the fuse. Good thing the hotels all had blow dryers. It worked in Cairo, The Red Sea, Athens and Santorini Greece. It feels a little heavy to me and that would be the only down side. I was able to plug it into the outlets when we traveled without an adapter, so it worked as both an adapter and a converter which was really nice. I bought another adapter which worked for charging all of our camera batteries. You don't need this converter to charge your laptop, dive camera, Nikon, or other small cameras. I am glad I bought it.
