Customer Review: Overheats

This battery started overheating within a few hours of plugging it in. At first I noticed problems with the integrated mouse, probably due to the heat. When I tried rebooting the computer it came up with a screen that said it had been shut down due to overheating. As I took the battery out I noticed that it was VERY hot and had even discolored a small area on the lap desk I use.
I purchased this battery along with a new power adapter, but thankfully never used the two of them together. The adapter arrived nearly a week earlier than the battery and had been returned due to overheating problems before the battery even arrived. Given the fact that this now makes 2 different generic products that have overheated within 24 hours of being received, I would be very careful of using unbranded products like this. Something that gets this hot is both dangerous and runs the risk of damaging your computer hardware.
There are better replacements available. I'm not saying that a Dell branded replacement is the only reliable product, but at least choose a company that consistently ships their own products and not just whatever they happen to have on hand. After looking at the particular battery this company shipped me, I could not find a manufacturer name or company printed anywhere on it. I did, however, notice that compatibility for the Inspiron B130 was NOT listed even though that was the product I ordered. The same was true of the adapter with the same issue. Be careful.
