Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sanyo Eneloop AAA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries (4 Pack)Customer Review: Why would anyone use anything else? Summary: 5 Stars
I just happened upon these a little over a year ago while looking for a battery charger for AA and AAA batteries. With 2 young children, we had plenty of uses for batteries. I found an excellent charger (the LaCrosse BC-900) based primarily on the outstanding review of NLee the Engineer who also recommended hybrid-type or low self-discharge batteries. I had honestly never heard of such a thing before that (since hardly anybody sells them apparently). These are especially great for use in electronic items that get used a lot but that also may sit unused for long periods of time (i.e. digital camera, Wii remotes, etc). The beauty of these batteries is that you can throw a few in the camera bag and always know you've got good batteries even months later (unlike with regular rechargeables which lose their charge much more quickly over time). I rarely use any other type of battery now. These are expensive on the front end but have proven to be the most cost-effective and convenient batteries to own. For an excellent (and much more technical) review of these batteries, read the review by NLee the Enginner.
Customer Review: Best rechargeables currently available Summary: 5 Stars
These batteries have one major advantage over most other rechargeables - they retain their charge much longer. This is especially useful for my digital camera. I don't use it every day and may go 2-3 weeks between uses. With other brands I would always have to charge up a new set of batteries each time I used my camera because they would discharge while sitting idle in my camera for 2 weeks. Now I can just pick up my camera and go.
These don't have the highest capacity out there, but since the higher capacity batteries discharge pretty quickly, I find that I actually get a lot more usage from these than I did from 2500mAh Energizers. I hope they do come out with a higher capacity version eventually, but even now they beat all the competition out there.
Edit: I should add that I mistakenly put this review under the AAA batteries, when I meant to put it under AA batteries, which is what I was thinking when I compare them to Energizers. But I do also use the AAA Eneloops and everything that I said about the AA size goes for the AAA size too
Customer Review: 4 Years Later Summary: 5 Stars
I have owned my first set of Eneloops now for 4 years after buying them along with a nice digital camera before my honeymoon. (I've been married 4 years already??:)
Bottom line is this: My original set still works well and last a long time, it seems as if they almost last as long as they did when I first used them. We have since had a daughter who is 1 now, and we have them in all of her toys, which she leaves on and they last. I haven't measured any specific time period, all I can tell you is that it seems like a long time that goes between charges. They last almost 2 months on my XBOX remote, which I use every day for about an hour, sometimes longer.
This is a quality product, which is also an excellent investment - especially considering that they only cost less than double of buying 1 regular set which may die faster anyway. 4 Years!!?? I never expected to get this long of life from my first set, but they are still going strong. I am curious as to how long they will last. Buy these, you won't be disappointed.
Customer Review: Best rechargeables yet Summary: 5 Stars
I purchased the new Eneloop batteries because of their claims and have not been disappointed. They last longer in my MP3 player than any other rechargeable I've tried, and pretty close to alkaline. I since started using them in my wireless bluetooth mouse and again they last longer than previous batteries I've tried. The real plus here, though, is when they run down I would be forced to do without the mouse while the batteries recharged or use batteries that were charged a month ago and then have to change again soon because they would have little charge left. Not so with the Eneloop as they still have almost a full charge and so I just swap them and keep going. The only problem I have at this point is the price of them keeps going up. You would think the more they make, the cheaper they would get.
Bottom line, even though they are expensive, they do seem to be the best I've ever used and when the price comes back down, I will stock up with more.
Just keep watching as the price does go up and down on these.
Customer Review: They just work..and work well they do Summary: 5 Stars
I've tried rechargeable batteries before and have always been disappointed until now. The Sanyo eneloop batteries work just like an alkaline battery except better. We use them in our remotes, wireless keyboards and mice, and other things. Recharge time is reasonable and they do the job. I'm sold. The Sanyo product is actually made in Japan and pretty much all the rest are made in China. Just a personal thing, but I prefer to avoid China made goods if possible.
One funny thing we had happen is we bought a new Blu-Ray DVD player and it came with normal alkaline batteries for the remote. The remote didn't work out of the box so we thoguht the batteries were bad and put in some new AAA alkalines we had from before buying the eneloops, and they didn't work either. On a whim I installed a pair of the eneloops and the remote worked. Then when I went back to the regular batteries it wouldn't work. Batteries tested ok. I think something is wrong with the remote but it's funny that it works fine with the eneloops.
