Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sanyo 277265 Eneloop Power Pack with Battery Charger, 8 AA & 2 AAA Batteries Plus 4 C & 4 D Size Adapter (CostCo Kit #2)Customer Review: Garbage Summary: 1 Stars
After reading so much hype on these batteries and charger, I bought the whole unit. Well, after using it for many months, I have a firm opinion: it's garbage. The problems are multiple. I have only used the AA batteries - but they don't seem to be holding their charge very well. I use them in a bluetooth mouse and keyboard (Apple), and frankly, they discharge way too fast. OK, I understand that they can't compare to regular non-rechargeable AA batteries, but they last only about 1/10th the length of time - 2 weeks or so, instead of the many months I got from regular AAs. But it gets worse. The charger is a disaster. It takes many hours - like 10-12 hours to charge 2 AA batteries. And it gets worse yet - it is extremely flaky, so for example, I can't charge 4 AA batteries at once any more - I used to be able to. Now, I can charge 2 AAs (at the usual sloooow rate of 8-10 hours), but if I put in 4, well, only 2 will charge. From my experience, I would avoid this product.
Customer Review: Perfect... Summary: 5 Stars
If you need a lot of batteries, you can't go wrong with this product. For me, it was the birth of my baby boy and in came the swings, gliders, bouncers, etc. The one drawback I was expecting these batteries to have was the duration of power, but so far I have been impressed. I will have to update the crowd if this holds true after the first recharge though. Also, I had read not too long ago that battery companies have been swindling us for years by making AA, C, D, etc. batteries when all of them deliver the same power. I am thankful for the C and D converters which allow me to stock a single type (AA) of battery for all my needs, which means I have less extra batteries hanging around for no reason. I can't speak for durability yet, since I haven't owned them long enough. The C & D converters seem a bit flimsy but I am usually careful with my stuff so that shouldn't be a problem.
P.S. These batteries seem to have stolen the energizer bunny.
Customer Review: Good value pack Summary: 4 Stars
Good value for the convenience. Battery has good shelf life. Love that for my speedlight which I don't use all that much. Also has very good capacity. Lasts for dozens of shots, though the power used with each flash of today's advanced speedlights depends on so many factors, the number of shots will vary for your conditions. Also used in a variety of other items like Wii remotes and small toys. All great.
Charger is nice and compact. Charges fairly rapidly - don't have to leave in overnight. Charges in pairs. See NLee's thorough reviews for comments on that.
Adaptor system is more a gimmick than utilitarian. It will probably do in a pinch, but I don't plan on using it much. (BTW, it's pretty clear in the title and description that C & D cells are adaptors, but here's a note to highlight to those who haven't realized this yet with this product.)
Customer Review: Good deal even if you don't need the adapters Summary: 5 Stars
These adapters are great for flashlights, radios and the like. I didn't really need the C adapters, but for the price I was not going to purchase 2 of the SANYO SEC-NCSTG-D2AA ENELOOP SPACER PACKS (INCLUDES 2 AA WITH 2 D-SIZE SPACERS) when I could get this set for $28.
Even if you don't need the adapters its a good deal. 8 AAs alone would cost you in the neighborhood of $22: Sanyo Eneloop 8 Pack AA NiMH Pre-Charged Rechargeable Batteries
If you can buy this set for under $30 it's a pretty good deal considering the adapters and 8 AAs would cost (if purchased separately) $40 or more. Plus you get 2 AAAs and a mediocre charger.
Highly recomended!
Customer Review: Why buy anything else? Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using Eneloop batteries in my digital camera for a couple of years now, and there seems to be no question that they are superior to any other type of rechargeable battery (at a reasonable price). I've thrown away all my older rechargeables. I bought this kit because I wanted to be able to charge/use AAA batteries as well as AAs.
It's not entirely clear from the description how the C and D size adapters work. The items in the kit that look like C and D batteries are actually just cases, into which you put the AA size batteries for use. Given the high capacity of the AA batteries, they are presumably more than adequate to replace conventional C and D types.
I really can't understand why anyone is still buying other types of rechargeable battery. There's no contest!
