Great Product!!!! Absolutely amazing, really super fast speeds. For some old computers you might need the Power Supply, otherwise a USB 2.0 port can supply enough power for the HD. I've used both, 80 Gb and 320 Gb ATA-100 2.5" HD to trasnfer files for a HD upgrade on my computer. Connectors work like a charm, you'll see it on your computer as a external portable HD.
The only problem is that the instruction manual doesn't tell you much, you'll have to figure out for yourself how to use the connectors and the power supply, but it's not that difficult.
I greatly recommend this product for anyone who wants to transfer files from an old HD o use the old HD as a portable one.

My main PC died and was unable to boot and I needed to get the data off of it. My new PC didn't have room to slave in a couple of extra drives. And my old PC had both SATA and IDE type drives.
This setup worked perfect for me. It allowed me to hook up both types of drives as if they were external hard drives with no problem. It has ports for smaller notebook style drives too I think but I didn't need to test that but I can only assume that it would work just as well.

The Sabrent Cable Converter does what it sets out to do: connects a wide array of hard drives through a USB port. Using the product was a breeze, and every hard drive that I tested was recognized by my Windows Vista System. The product isn't the best looking, nor is it top notch quality, but there is nothing on the market that beats it at the moment. This is an awsome device for anyone who has to get information off of a hard drive without having to open up your computer. You need nothing but this device, your hard drive and a USB port. I had a hard drive that would not work in its current computer, I thaught all was lost. I hooked it up to my computer with this device and was able to retrieve all the information. I bought this hardrive adapter for my Aunts Laptop that died. When her Laptop
died, she sent it to me, and we determined the motherboard was dead but not the
hardrive. She had lots of Photos, documents, etc. she needed saved so I removed
the hardrive, bought this from Amazon, and made a nice portable drive for her to use
on her new computer. Not only did is save her precious pics, and docs, but now she
can use that drive as extra portable storage. She's happy, I'm happy and hopefully
she doesn't forget about me in the will for saving the day......hehehe
