Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel 6-Foot Printer CableCustomer Review: Old HP printer with Mac OS Leopard Summary: 5 Stars
I have an old HP LaserJet 4 printer. It's not the Mac version, but it was working OK until I installed Leopard. Then it totally disappeared! The laptop wasn't even seeing it with the Parallel/USB cable I had before. With the Sabrent cable it showed right up! Took some doing to get it printing with the Gutenprint driver, but with this cable I was able to do it.
P.S. I'm afraid to install Snow Leopard because it changed printer drivers. After what it took to get this printer working again I'll have to think about it before I risk making it not work again.
Customer Review: Beware if you're buying this for an HP Laserjet 4L! Summary: 1 Stars
I purchased this item based on the manufacturer-supplied statement that the adapter was compatible with my HP Laserjet 4L printer. When the item arrived and I attempted to mate it to the printer's male connector, the blue plastic piece on he adapter was too wide to fit with the printer cable. I have now returned this item and ordered the Sabrent USB to DB25 adapter cable, which I am hoping will work for me. There's nothing inherently wrong with THIS item; you just can't believe the manufacturer's statements on compatibility. Check your printer's adapter beforehand.
Customer Review: Everything should be this easy Summary: 5 Stars
I bought a new computer for my wife, who uses an HP1300 Laserjet printer, which she loves. It has the old style printer cable, and the new computer only has USB. I bought this cable without checking compatability, thinking it was cheap enough to be worth a shot. I hooked it up without even loading the software just to see what happened, and the computer found and installed the printer in about two minutes. I didn't even have to load the drivers from the printer disk (Maybe I should anyway, I'll see what happens). What can I say, it doesn't get any easier than that.
Customer Review: Up and running in no time! Summary: 5 Stars
I was a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on this cable. I didn't know the manufacturer, either. However, it functioned just as advertised, straight out of the box. I have an old printer (HP DeskJet 720c) that has a parallel connection on it, and I just bought a new laptop with no parallel ports. I didn't want to bother with a docking station, so I bought this cable. I plugged it in, ran the add printer wizard that popped up in XP as soon as it detected my printer, and have had no problems since. I am thoroughly satisfied.
Customer Review: Sabrent SBT-UPPC USB to Parallel Cable Summary: 5 Stars
This works just as advertised. If you use Windows 7 and have an older parallel printer, this is the only cable for you if you are connecting a printer with a USB port. I have tried others and they simply don't work. I was just about ready to put my LaserJet 4 in the closet but decided to do some more research on cables. If they are not certified for Windows 7 they will not work. It is funny, though, that the Amazon description only indicated Windows 2000 and XP. The Sabrent website indicated it was compatible with Windows 7, however.
