Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Sabrent SATA-C35U Serial ATA to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power SupplyCustomer Review: Great while it worked Summary: 2 Stars
I needed to pull files off of a fried computer onto my new Windows 7 box. This adapter powered up the HD and was recognized right away as a new USB device. I was able to copy over about 100Gb of data with no problem. However, about a half hour later I went to copy more and it no longer worked. I thought maybe it was a Windows 7 issue, but it no longer is seen as a USB device on an XP machine I also connected it to, and didn't work any better on either machine with another drive attached. Maybe it overheated, but at least I got the critical files over.
Customer Review: External SATA hard drive connected to Ubuntu linux Summary: 5 Stars
These cables allowed me to transfer the data from the hard-drive on a NAS device whose firmware was rewritten. The NAS device was unable to display my earlier partitions. I had to extract the hard drive and connect it, using the SATA-to-USB cable, to another Linux machine. Ubuntu-Linux recognized the "missing" partitions and allowed me to read/write to those partitions. Data transfers in the gigabyte range take a couple of minutes at the most. Remember to allow adequate ventilation for your external components! Good luck.
Customer Review: Easy, quick, amazing Summary: 5 Stars
Just got this in today. It took a couple hours to recover about 200 GB from my old Vista HD. Actually, most of the time was spent convincing Windows I had administrator rights to the drive & then hunting down the files/folders I was rescuing. This device was easy, easy, easy. Transferred quickly. Drive never got hot. I recommend this for anyone who wants to save any valuable personal or professional data from a crashed hard drive.
Customer Review: Sabrent SATA to USB for temporary external hard drive Summary: 5 Stars
Sabrent SATA-C35U Serial ATA to USB 2.0 Cable Converter Adapter with Power Supply works exactly as advertised. I've used mine to format a 250 GB hard drive and then used them together to back up my entire C: drive and another data drive. It's a good idea to set the drive up on blocks to ensure air circulation around it.
Customer Review: works as advertised... Summary: 5 Stars
I needed to back up data from my hard drive after the operating system crashed. Got the cable, hooked it up to my notebook, transfered my files. it was that easy. It's not the most elegant piece of hardware, no switch, two seperate cables, limited instruction book... but all you do is hook it up, the cables only attach one way, plug it in, and you are done. it was inexpensive and worked. what more can you ask?
