Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Roku SoundBridge M1000/M1001 Network Music SystemCustomer Review: Perfect !!! Summary: 5 Stars
First i will say thanks Amazon.com for fast shipment and handling outside USA (Germany). I have searched this device in germany but i found only used devices. This devices is branded by pinnacle and comes without iTunes Server support. My original Roku SoundBridge works perctly with my iTunes Server on my NAS.
For german orders only:
- The PSU works fine with 230V but for the US-Prongs must have an US to EU Prong converter.
- Amazon.com has made all zoll and formalities for me.
Operation of the SoundBridge is verry simple and i hear webradio past 5-10 minutes after unpacking. The connect to my own iTunes Server (NAS) is totally easy and also works fine.
The technical data can see on the webside or other reviews.
Tip: [...] - This little java program is for remote controlling the SoundBridge over PC and works with multiple (linux, xp, vista, 7) platforms.
Kind regards,
Dirk
Customer Review: I see dead Rokus Summary: 2 Stars
My M1000 had been a reliable music streamer for several years, until we came home from vacation last week to find the display dark and the SoundBridge completely unresponsive. Checking in on Roku's online forum, I found that many, many other SoundBridge owners have had "dead" Rokus. Looks like the consensus is that the SoundBridges were engineered with inadequate ventilation and/or that they used underrated capacitors that overheated and failed.
Roku has not reponded to my request for advice on how to repair my SoundBridge, despite their customer service page pledge to respond within 48 hours. Looks like I'm out of luck.
After this experience - poor quality and poor support - I'm very disinclined to purchase another Roku product of any kind. The Roku HD movie player looks like an attractive option for accessing video, but having been burned once, I'm just not willing to give this company another chance.
Customer Review: Truly pathetic customer support Summary: 2 Stars
I bought this for one purpose: to hook it up to my stereo system and listen to Internet radio stations around the world. It does it's main function fairly well, but their website which is required for that functionality is down several times a year, sometimes as long as 3 days. They also have no more online support or even online documentation. I can understand moving on, but getting rid of all documentation, etc, at your website?! There is a workaround to get it work with the website down, but it's a bit clumsy, and I haven't really tested it during website failure. The manual is incomplete, and I still don't understand half the buttons. Again, functionality is decent, but you expect a bit more by way of customer support in this day and age. Also, as several have noted the product has been dropped, and this company has made it very clear it's not much interested in supporting an older product like this one.
Customer Review: The Roku was the answer Summary: 5 Stars
I recently purchased this Roku unit, after seeing it demonstrated at a friend's house. It has enabled me to pull together music from various sources & play them back through my main sound system, be they CD's that I've downloaded into my Itunes, or .wav files that I've made in my studio, which is in a separate building on my property (I've sneaker-netted the .wav files to my flash-drive, then to my computer).
In terms of the internet radio functions, the Roku can grab most stations, & there are many useful stations built into the factory presets;programming new stations, seraching via scrolling & entering the call letters was pretty straight-forward. My one complaint is with the remote; some functions aren't very intuitive, & there is no way to fast-forward through a tune as it is playing, at least not that I've found.
Customer Review: With latest software upgrade it is fantastic! Summary: 5 Stars
I LOVE this item, I enjoy listening to the radio, but let's face it all the stations sound the same. Even shortwave isn't what it used to be. HD radio and satelite radio is a neat idea but it is still corporate controled. The Roku soundbridge frees you from the corporate shakles. with the latest software upgrade you can listen to 4000 plus stations! It is unbeliveable...Rock, Jazz, Blues, Country, News...you can hear most stations that stream with this item, plus you can hear all the internet only stations!
You can also use it to hear your mp3s on your computer, though I don't use this feature much, I can see it being handy. Their website is wonderful and very helpful.
What don't I like? Not much, It gets sort of warm and it's not the prettiest thing in the world. Other than that it's a cool item.
