I purchased one of these as a cheap alternative to the car chargers produced by Dell. It runs pretty hot, but not hot enough to be unsafe (unless maybe you buried it under a stack of paper). We haven't had any problems with anything we've hooked up to it, so no complaints there. Just be sure not to smash the cigarette lighter part in the door. For some bizarre reason it ceases to function after that... ;)Customer Review: Works wonderfully!

Bought this for my campervan when I stay somewhere without an electrical hookup. I can run it for hours powering my 40 watt LCD TV/DVD player and it doesn't even get hot. TV works without a problem, you would think it was plugged into a normal outlet. The unit is whisper quiet. In fact, I don't recall hearing any noise at all! The thing just works as advertised. I used to have an AC outlet in my old car; now that I have a new one I thought my days of sitting back driving and letting the kids watch movies was over. Not so with this item. It provides enough power to run my 13 inch tv. I've had it for a month and I haven't had any problems with it. Bought this and used mostly for laptop. Also works well for cell phone charging and baby toys. Have no problems, works great. It doesn't get hot or make noise. Plenty of power, no need to spend more money than this, although I do recommend checking the power needed for each item. As long as only one item is being powered, this device is plenty of power. I must agree with the other excellent reviews. Took this with me on a trip to power my laptop and my mp3 player. Not only was there no noise (I had read other reviews of similar products saying they were loud), but the unit did not get hot at all. Although I've only used it for about 6 hours total (about 3 hours max continuous usage) I am very pleased to have made the purchase.
