Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Razer DeathAdder 3G Infrared Gaming MouseCustomer Review: Piece of Crap for High Sensitivity Gamers (Acceleration Sucks) Summary: 2 Stars
Ordered a Razer Death adder from TigerDirect because my Diamondback recently broke which I absolutely loved. At first I had problems with the drivers (getting the mouse to detect with razers software) but eventually fixes those issues when installing in safe mode in WindowsXP. I'm completely unsatisfied with the DeathAdder because its software acceleration merely switches the original windows "enhance pointer precision" on and off which is an absolute lack of quality on razers part. I found moving the mouse slightly in close quarters the cursor sensitivity was too high and when trying to move the cursor from one end of the screen to another the mouse sensitivity was way to low. I'm a high sensitivity gamer and the deathadder seems like a great mouse for those who "enjoy picking up and lifting the mouse off of mousepad" (repositioning) during their gaming sessions. I tried as much as possible to tweak the settings of the mouse so that it would run smoothly but it just wouldn't budge. I wasn't comfortable when playing DotA "Warcraft III" at all but Counter Strike:Source in close quarters wasn't too bad. I also noticed a lot of skipping with the mouse when trying to drag the cursor smoothly across the screen. To test this open up MSPaint or Photoshop and drag a smooth paintbrush across the screen in a circle. You will notice lots of choppy skips and unsmoothe edges, terrible for precision, you don't want to try and use a sniper in CS with this mouse.
Overall I recommend this mouse to any kid who likes low sensitivity mice. But if you love fast mice with ultimate tracking and smooth precision STAY AWAY. I'm going to order another Diamondback.
Customer Review: Quick review, because this mouse is perfection. Summary: 5 Stars
I went into a brick-and-mortar store so I could try out each major gaming mouse and decide which I liked best. My top choices were the Logitech G5 and the razer deathadder. When I entered the store, I ended up trying out what I believed was the Razer Lachesis... which cost's a whopping $80. I agonized over it, not wanting to waste the money, but in the end I realized the lachesis just felt so much better than any other mouse I had ever touched; it was perfect. I had to have it. Price was no concern.
I left the display unit that was hooked up and looked for a boxed one. There was no lachesis; the model I had been enjoying was the deathadder. It was so ergonomic, so perfect, and so responsive, that I had assumed it must be the $80 model... not the $50 model. I was completely elated, and immediately bought it.
I've had it a couple days now, and it's delivered the best gaming weekend of my life. Unreal Tournament 3, Team Fortress 2, Crysis-- I feel almost like I have an unfair advantage in multiplayer. It's so precise, so smooth... it's just wonderful. The design feels perfect to the hand, and your hand will appreciate it after long-sessions.
The software is great and easy to use. I just opened it up, set the polling rate and DPI to the highest values (there are various presets to use, also) and closed it up. I doubt I'll ever need to play with it again; it did all I need to do in one use. I really can't stress how wonderful this mouse is. The copperhead and G5 have a slightly higher DPI count, at 2000, but this mouse FEELS so much better that I can't recommend them.
Buy this up, and enjoy.
Customer Review: Not to my liking. Summary: 3 Stars
First off, when it first arrived I was very disappointed. The body style does not fit my hand well. Granted, I'm slowly getting use to it. I preffer light mice with an indent towards the middle and the height raise more towards the back. It does not fit my hand as well as my old Basic Optical Mouse (Microsoft), it seems less ergonomic.
And also note, the lights are a deeper blue than the one pictured. Even easier on the eyes.
Now on to the good:
The mouse moves very quietly and smoothly, Much quieter than my old mouse.
Pretty blue lights
The higher DPI seems noticable when fine-aiming at small targets.
It has two buttons on the side.
The middle-mouse click easily without scrolling at the same time.
The bad:
The middle-mouse is a bit stiff for my taste.
The mouse is too heavy, along with not fitting my hand well.
The left-click is harder than the right. Perhaps for durability?
Expensive.
The controversy:
I highly doubt that the added refresh rate is going to make any difference in your gaming experience. The human eye will only distinguish about 60 frames per second, that is 16.6ms. Why then, get a mouse that is more than 16 times faster than the human eye? However, I do not claim to be an expert. Take this with a grain of salt.
Would I buy this mouse again? Not likely, primarily for ergonomics. The mouse performs very well, it simply doesn't fit my hand. If you like right-handed mice: buy it!
Customer Review: Vicious Summary: 5 Stars
This mouse is hands down the best one I have ever used, and that includes a G5, Copperhead and a MX512.
It is extremely comfortable. Not just because of the shape, but the coating is very smooth and pleasant to the touch. The buttons have a very nice pressure point and click with confidence. The scroll wheel is very nice, as it has a nice width and good feedback for each notch. Plus there is none of that side scrolling nonsense that Logitech seems to be so fond of, which is utterly useless and even hindersome when playing games.
Everything about the DA screams quality, the build, the drivers and the sensor...
Oh the sensor...
It tracks like nothing else. Period. If you like to play games and want the most precise tracking out there, this is it. Nothing better. This is not just my opinion, ESR did a very in depth test with many different mice (including the MX500, MX512 and the Diamondback, which are exquisite mice as well) and showed that there really is not a mouse with a better tracking out there ATM.
If you are even considering buying this, do it! You will be very happy! My game has actually improved slightly just from switching to this mouse. I never thought a mouse could make this much difference (even just a slight increase in your game is stellar, since it's nothing but the mouse that invoked it).
Oh, even though this is not all that important, but the pictures you see don't do it justice. It looks very nice indeed.

From PlayingWithMyWeiner.com:
[Note: This review concerns the PAX '08 Special Edition, which is the same mouse with a Penny Arcade paint job.]
The DeathAdder is like butter. Within seconds of plugging it in I was experiencing the silkiest, smoothest mousing experience of my life. It had better be, with a 1800dpi Razer Precision(tm) 3G infrared sensor and a 1ms response (compared with 8ms for standard mice). This thing has pinpoint accuracy, and its almost a waste to be clicking on lootable bodies rather than fragging the heck out of some sucker in TF2.
Again, the form factor is nice. The DeathAdder is a little larger than the Revolution, but not overwhelmingly so. The cord is 210cm long, so I never feel that I'm pulling at it. If anything, it may be a little too long, because I had to find a place to tuck it out of the way. The exclusive PAX `08 paintjob isn't really that great looking, but there were only 400 made and I got one, so the smug feeling of dork accomplishment compensates for the bowling shoes design. This is my desktop mouse of choice.
In the end, it really does come down to the right mouse for the right job. For high-tension gaming, particularly in a desktop setting where mobility isn't a factor, it's going to be the DeathAdder every time.
