Customer Review: A headset entirely made of win

Getting the Megalodon was the result of much arduous searching. I nearly went with Logitech's G930, as the wireless sounded so convenient, and their price ranges are so close.
However, what clinched the Megalodon's nomination was a single vague review that referenced being comfortable with glasses. This is a feature I've searched for nearly my entire gaming life. Most headsets just don't work with glasses - after awhile, every single headset I've used starts to hurt my head. That is, except my shiny new Megalodon.
First up, the box: Razer really shined here. The box itself is a thing of beauty - I remarked once when I got the Razer Barracuda that Razer seems to think that they sell boxes, and what's inside is just kind of a bonus. This is especially true in this case - the box itself is nice and thick, and when you open it up, there's a nice container for the instruction manuals (also very attractively designed) and a product guide.
Inside the box is a container, which is also attractive. It'll be excellent to carry my shiny new headset to LANs. It's very thick and heavy-ish on it's own. The entire thing is very solid, and we haven't even gotten to the actual product yet!
When you open up the case, the headset's right there. The controller is in it's own container, but you can bring out the whole thing. By the way, another cool thing: During this entire process, I didn't have to wrestle with any plastic ties or anything like that. All I had to do was cut some nice black tape, and everything else was just a matter of opening like a normal miffing box.
The headset is very nicely designed. I was struck by how nice the cable felt relative to my other headsets, and pretty much every cable I've had. It feels like the headset is connected to the computer with rope, rather than cabling. It's a very interesting feel.
The setup is somewhat harder than most other headsets, and what all the reviews have said. You MUST update the firmware (Razer's website has a download link, no worries.) I've heard there would be terrible scratching noises if you don't. Updating the firmware is more difficult than most firmware I've had to update - but it's relatively painless if you follow the instructions on their website.
The sound quality of the Megalodon is very good. The bass seemed a little light to me, but it's well within acceptable ranges. You can control the volume of three of the channels individually, but the front left, front right, and their rear variants must be changed together. This is a minor annoyance.
There are controls for the bass as well, but it actually doesn't sound that great if you turn it up. I'm not a boom-boom type of person though, so..If you like your head vibrated, maybe this isn't so bad?
And finally, just to reiterate: The Razer Megalodon feels excellent on my head. It feels better than any headset I've ever worn. Glasses have always been a problem for me as related to headsets, but in this case, it just isn't a problem. If you wear glasses and you're also on the fence, definitely go with the Megalodon; you likely won't be disappointed. If you don't, the G930 might be a better choice, considering the price difference. At this point, it's all up to your preferences - the features of the two headsets are nearly identical. The Logitech G hotkeys might clinch it for you, or maybe the wireless, but neither seemed like a big deal to me. Especially when compared to the comfort of my Megalodon.
