This uses the simplest technology and if you work in, around, through, over, and under computers and do not have one, you might regret it. This little device enables you and the computer that you are working one to become one, with the ground that is. I used to not have one until I replaced a RAM card (one of my good expensive ones) and when I reached over to install into the computer after touching the chassis with the card, zap. It was over and did not take very long for me to go through several hundred bucks. I received this item, and started to use it. I've used it so much, I feel like it's a watch sometimes and feel naked without it. This little item has saved me a fortune many times. Esy to use, just strap your one first, touch or attach it to the chassis and done. Noticed the clip? It comes off and for a good reason too. You can adapt this little strap to be attached to either an OHM meter or a fluke meter to test and detect live systems for current and to see if you're the one receiving a charge or when there is a static buildup. You can also place an inline resistor as an extra measure of safety. But I will testify to this, seasons change all of the time and climate will vary, unless you can afford to go through several peices of equipment and love the dare, then do not buy it. But for those who want to do it right the first time, this is just the first step. You will also want to purchase an ESD mat. It does the same thing, but it helps you from zapping the equipment when they are not discharged and grounded properly.
