I contemplated getting an Ipod for a few wks., read numerous reviews, talked to people, etc. Was about to set to buy one then decided to research other options, just in case as I didn't want to plunk down that much money. I'm so glad I did some research first. Although I really wanted the ability to get online, that is the only thing I think I'm really missing. I think I can do without that for saving about $140. I've only had this for 2 days so I'm still learning my around it. It will take a little time as the instructions are not great, as other reviewers have written. Also, some avi files work, some don't. However, I have found a website with free movie downloads. I successfully downloaded one and put it onto the player with no problems. Plays great. The picture is quite clear, better than my little DVD player actually. I am thrilled I got this before our vacation as I can watch a movie on it instead of trying to share the dvd player with my son. The sound is really good listening to music with the earbuds. Volume is pretty low without the earbuds. However hooking it up to speakers works great. The touchscreen is not perfect. Using the stylus it's like you have to touch the chosen song slightly above the line instead of right on it. If you click right on it you will choose the song below it. So it's like it's not lined up right. But as long as you know that you just always touch at the top of the line and you'll be fine. So there are a little touchy things like that but again, for the price, it's a great deal and well worth it. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

You can play MPEG4, WMV, AVI, RM, RMVB or FLV stream (YouTube) files directly on this device without the need for conversion. Most MP4 or MP5 players out there do not play MPEG4 or WMV formats. This is a huge improvement over the older models. Please note: license protected files (like iTune video or movies purchased from some websites) will NOT play. Some video files with high resolution might need to be compressed to around 320 * 240 to maximize the performance of the device. It automatically organizes your MP3 files into different artists, styles, genre and album based on ID 3 tag information. You can even add songs into My Favorite to create your own play list right on the device. The video quality is crispy clear.
