Customer Review: 900mAh???

I own a 1st gen Ipod mini whose battery had become worthless. Decided to replace the hard drive with a compact flash memory card at the same time (to improve capacity and use less power). I expected that between reducing power consumption and installing a better battery (original spec is 400mAh) then I would go much longer between charges. Began to have my doubts though when the battery arrived, and nowhere on the package or battery is any rating for mAh. I recently performed Apple's rundown test, and found I got just over 8 hours with the new memory card, which is exactly what the old battery did with the HARD DRIVE when it was new. And that was without the earbuds in place and the volume only halfway up.
That said, however, the battery is an excellent price. It may not actually be 900mAh, but I paid less for this battery than any other replacement I could find. So while I doubt the 900mAh claim, the battery does work. And if you replace the hard drive (may as well while you have it cracked open anyway) then it will perform as well as the original did.
