Customer Review: Superb Voice Quality Full Duplex Conferencing
Summary: 5 Stars

Almost every conference room in the world uses a Polycom speakerphone. As I work from home I wanted something as good as the one I have in my office. Thanks to Polycom Soundpoint Pro SE-225, I can enjoy same audio quality right at home. This phone is best when used as a speaker phone however you have option to use its handset or attach a headset to its 2.5mm jack. A dedicated button makes it easy to switch between speaker/handset and headset. During conference calls, I hear everyone loud and clear. Most importantly people on the other end feel the same way. With SE-225 I talk naturally and effortlessly - making every call a more productive call. If you have a home office, do yourself a favor buy one; you won't be disappointed. It is a bit expensive but worth every penny.

Customer Review: Big disappointment
Summary: 2 Stars

bought two. returned both. first unit broke after two days of light use, and was completely non-functional. Second unit confirmed performance issues I had with the first before it broke, so it was returned as well.

The speakerphone's full duplex action is not nearly as good as the marketing suggests. The microphone is rather weak, so my listeners tell me. The unit runs very hot all the time, which is a little worrisome. And even the handset doesn't give good voice transmission. i recorded a message with the handset and then listened to it, and it was mediocre quality. Sounded like I was on a headset, not the handset.

Wish this thing was as good as it looked. Still looking for a true top of the line quality 2-line speakerphone without voice mail.

Customer Review: This is a must have for a home office
Summary: 5 Stars

I work from home 2 days a week and spend quite a bit of time on the phone. Having a real full duplex speaker phone is such a help when working from the home office.

I initially purchased an $80 "business speakerphone" but the sound quality on speakerphone was just awful.

My boss made me return it and get this instead and I'm so glad that he did.

The only negatives that I see on it are that you can't easily access things like the caller id log and the saved numbers. I didn't care about this though as this is also true on my real work phone. I bought this for the call clarity when using the speakerphone and could not be happier. I just wanted to add this in case easy access to these features is important to others.

Customer Review: Unreliable microphone
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had this phone for over a year, and am regretting every day that I did not return it. The speaker quality is great, but the microphone is completely unreliable. You have to be right in front of the phone, preferably slightly above the receiver to be heard.
Also I do a lot of conference calls during which I sometimes remain silent for several minutes. It seems like this completely messes up with the signal processing algorithm of the phone, which tries to sort out voice from noise. The end result is that when it is my turn to speak in a call there is a good 30 seconds during which I people on the other end of the line can barely hear me. I usually end up picking up the receiver, which defies the purpose of this $250 phone...

Customer Review: Good but minor problems...
Summary: 3 Stars

As a speakerphone, I like the phone. No problems.

Three minor issues -- (1) There is a dataport connector on the back of the phone. This would be good if you wanted to daisy chain your fax machine or modem off the phone, you would expect most people to do this with "line 2", but the data port is "line 1". (2) There is a volume control, but even if you change the speakerphone volume to really low, the touch tones ARE STILL LOUD AS NORMAL (waking up the family). (3) The handset seems too cheap to me and as a very hollow sound.

Otherwise, like the phone. Speakphone is good quality, I purchased the unit becuase I am sitting on conferences calls listening to people pontificate.
