Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Polycom SoundPoint Pro SE-225 Phone Power Supply IncludedCustomer Review: Good Phone, Lacks features... Summary: 4 Stars
I have had this phone for over a week. I love the quality of speakerphone thus far. People can hardly tell if I am speaker or handset...However, For a SOHO phone, Polycom has missed the mark on "HOME OFFICE" part. I make a lot of conference calls and all of them have passcodes etc...I am disappointed with the speed dial capability.
1) Only 10 numbers for easy dial. Rest are a pain to manually scroll.
2) The pause in speed dial isn't even enough to get past a couple of rings and/or a voice prompt...I almost always have to enter passcodes etc manually.
3) I wish it came with those collapsable legs like on a computer keyboard to give it a little incline. The display is not visible if u are at an angle or slightly away from the phone.
I guess they are phone company, not a feature company. Love the phone, could use the features to make life really comfortable. Concerned about the power surge possibility posted by others. Hope I dont have to go through that.
Customer Review: Not worth the money and support is worse Summary: 1 Stars
I would not spend the money for this phone. I work at home so I decided to invest in a really good phone with 2 lines and a speaker. The handset was always hot when I picked it up and put it to my ear. I contacted the company and they did send me another one but it did the same thing. So I decided to live with it because the speaker was good. But with use of less than a year, the sound became lower. No one can hear me on calls and I can't hear anyone else with the volume up. I contacted the company but it had been over a year so no luck getting help since it was now out of warranty. They would fix it if I paid shipping and a repair job but it would be almost the cost of a new phone. I did my own problem determination by swapping the phone with another one and the new one was fine, I also replaced any parts I could like a different hand set that fit, a different phone line cord, etc. So, I have a $200 paperweight. Do not waste your money.
Customer Review: Don't buy this phone Summary: 1 Stars
Had this phone for 3 years. Intermittently, I could hear a dialtone, but the phone's dialing wouldn't register on the line.
Speakerphone quality was okay. The built-in headphone amp is sub-par and cannot adequately raise the volume of sound for the user.
The 3-way calling (2 lines, conferenced together) has never worked. I can hear each party, but they cannot hear each other.
Finally, after 3 years, the phone failed. It can't dial out. I've tried changing out the phone cable, resetting the software default settings, and such. Nothing works. I have a $250 paperweight (I bought mine at a higher price than at Amazon). Software rev is 0.2b if that makes any difference.
My company even has a service contract with Polycom and they refuse to help me with this phone.
Don't buy it. Save $100 and buy some other 2-line phone. I had such high hopes for this phone.
Customer Review: Nine years and counting Summary: 5 Stars
I first purchased this phone in 2000 for my home office. After five years of daily use, I boxed it away during a renovation that took far too long. Recently, I dusted off this Polycom, plugged it into a IP-based line and it works, sounds and looks as good as ever. The speakerphone is still unmatched to products within the price range and the features, while dated, are fine for me. The voice clarity on the handset is exceptional.
While I rely on an online application (Google Voice) for voice mail and call logs to maintain mobility, it's a nice feeling to have great sound quality while back at home. Most professionals -- especially consultants and other with home-based offices -- will greatly appreciate this phone. Typically, I would buy the newest and greatest thing available, but I'm fairly confident that I have it on my desk right now even if it is pushing a decade old.
Customer Review: The Speakerphone I've Been Searching For Summary: 5 Stars
I've had this phone for a few months now, and it does everything so well that I'm motivated to write this. The phone is really built around the speakerphone functionality. I have NEVER encountered a speaker on a desk phone that has the quality this one has. It is extremely high-fidelity. It also has two mikes, one in front and one in back in case you occasionally want to bring people into your office who sit across the desk from you to participate in conference calls. It also has a mini jack for use of headphone, and the relatively inexpensive Plantronics wireless phone headset works great with it. I have had many phones with speakers which were inadequate, mikes that make you hard to understand by the people you call and had frustrating/unworkable interfaces with headsets-- this does all three of these functions in a SPECTACULAR way.
