Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plustek Opticfilm 7300

Customer Review: Just what I needed.
Summary: 4 Stars

I am currently scanning my slide collection to my computer. Doing the slides scanning one at a time is time consuming, but I knew that before I purchased it thanks to other folks comments. The digital result is very good. I prescan to make sure I want to save the image. The unit doesn't take up too much space on my desk top. The software that was bundled with it is a great help. Easy to install and use.
I am not so pleased with the film scanning portion. I have old film and I don't have a clue what film type, speed etc. it wants to know for each one. I have to play with it to find one that gives me the clearest image.

Customer Review: Plustek 7300 - Great Value
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a great 35mm slide scanner for the money ($230). I am sure there are better slide scanners on the market, but they are several hundreds of dollars more. I found the Plustek 7300 pretty easy to set up and load the software. The software is a little challenging if you want to scan and edit to perfestion, but for someone who just wants to digitizes his/her 35mm slide it is great. It is a little slow, about 1 minnute to prescan and about 2 minutes to do a full scan. The highest resolution takes 4-6 minutes, if you really wnt deal. I have over 3200 slides to scan so this is becoming a career path for the next few months.

Customer Review: Its slow but does what it promised
Summary: 4 Stars

The Plustek scanner has been great so far after 700 slides is working great. I use it with OS X Leopard. The photos are looking great and get a color and brightness tweak automatically. there are shortcuts you will use when you get used to it. Obviously scanning one slide at a time is going to be slow to go but the quality is extremely high and the files can be very large if you choose to save them that way.
Installing the program was a bit of a challenge, I had to register it online first before it would work.
I hope this helped someone to choose this scanner, it is really a great buy for the money

Customer Review: Great Scanner
Summary: 5 Stars

This scanner exceeded my expectations. I had and still have several thousand slides to scan. My slides from the 70's when I lived in Alaska looked better after they were scanned than they did before. The Dust and scratch removal utility did wonders, and combined with my Photoshop Elements and Nikon capture programs, the slides cleaned up beautifully. Compared to other scanners I've used, this scanner worked quickly, even when using the dust removal.

I would recommend this scanner to anyone needing a slide scanner. The price is right and the quality is great.

Customer Review: Works pretty well
Summary: 4 Stars

I like this scanner, but I use it primarily for slides (at least for now) and the dynamic range is a little disappointing. Slides that are underexposed (dark) that look OK when viewed with the eye don't scan well at all. I had many darker slides that made unusable scans. Maybe it's just my own inexperience that made me expect better quality, I'm not sure. The double-exposure feature helps some with these dark slides. Well-exposed slides are not a problem, they look good. I scanned some color negatives and they look good.
