Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plustek Opticfilm 7300

Customer Review: A few issues, but I'd buy it again.
Summary: 4 Stars

There are a few issues, but I'd buy it again. Originally, there was a film alignment issue: the frames had a 2 degree tilt and the bottom of the image was cut off. I probably should have sent it in for warranty work, but instead took it apart and fixed it. Now it looks great. SilverFast works okay, but the scratch & dust removal feature is pretty much worthless. Plan either to upgrade to a more expensive version of SilverFast, or spend a lot of time manually removing scratches and spots. And the scanning process itself takes awhile. If I was scanning professionally, I would not be happy. But the quality of the scans themselves is very good, so for personal use and considering the price, I'd buy it again.

Customer Review: Excellent device at great price
Summary: 5 Stars

The Plustek Opticfilm 7300 has proven to be an excellent scanner. The software installation was a snap ans altough the instructions are a bit scattered they come together as one uses the machine. After trying four other scanners with poor results the Opticfilm has been has given me results which capture the quality of the aoriginal film image. The included software provides enough adjustments that most difficult exposures can be adjusted for acceptable results prior to scanning (and detailed fixes can then be made in photoshop). I have scanned about 700 slides with the Opticfilm ( scan times can be a bit slow depending on dpi and details selected) the results are worth the time. Anyway the scan time can be put to good use - selecting other slides for scanning or reading a good book for example. Usually I find some point of disappointment with photo electronics ( I'm an old school film photographer who began making the digital transition about 2 years ago) but the Opticfilm 7300 has performed a great job.

Customer Review: Good Investment
Summary: 5 Stars

I've done some research on scanners but still wasn't sure if this was the right one.. That was until I set it up and used it. Great Unit! Made the right choice, good quality, very happy with the results.

Customer Review: Plustek Optic Film 7300
Summary: 1 Stars

This is marginal at best. If you are looking for high quality imaging, THIS IS NOT WHAT YOU WANT. It was so bad I returned it for a refund.

If you purchase - here's what you'll experience:

1. Inordinate amount of time to capture the image.
2. Image quality is poor.

Save your money.

Customer Review: Works great
Summary: 4 Stars

The 7300 works great. I have a lot of old slides with dirt and scratches.
You can just set up how much definition you want, till you see the scratches, and back off.
The software is great, as one other user said :"Don't even try the quick scan" Use the silverfast software, it is great.
I did have one problem, one of the 35mm slide slots in the holder won't take a slide, something broken. I tried to write the Plustek co , to find out where I could buy another holder. No answer. I sure would like to buy a few more holders, but could not find any on internet.
As usual, once you have the unit, good luck finding any parts. That is why I gave it 4 stars intead of 5 stars.
