Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plustek OpticFilm 7200 7200DPI Film ScannerCustomer Review: Interesting experience for the unexperienced Summary: 4 Stars
I had some difficulty with installation due to overlooking the printer/scanneer I already had attached....that took two frustrating evenings. However, tech suppoprt was great and had me up and working right after the call.
It does a great job on transferring slides to jpeg files. I am very happy with the results. I did not use the accompanying software, I found most pictures were fine with the alterations on Quickscan program. I first scanned them with 1200 dpi but re-scanned them at 2400 dpi for better pics. I also re-scanned some because I forgot to clean the slides prior to scanning and when they are blown up, you can see the dust. I bought a micro-suede dust rag at Office Max that worked great.
Have fun...I am happy with the Plustek
Customer Review: A very good slide scanner Summary: 5 Stars
I bought the Plustek scanner as a tool to finish up transferring 35MM slides to a digital form. I have been very satisfied with the quality of the digital picture output done as a high quality TIF. The process does take a little time for each scan, but the software that comes with the scanner allows you to scan negatives in addition to adjusting color on the slides based on the kind of picture being scanned. It is very flexible and works very well in conjunction with Photoshop 6.0. Learning curve was short for me. I had a basic grasp of what the product could do and how to setup the software to deliver the high qulaity slides I wanted for this project within about three scan cycles. The users guide is a PDF on the software diskette.
Customer Review: Retired USNR O-6 Summary: 4 Stars
So far so good .... I received the Optic Film 7200 with the Silverfast SE disk version. B4 you start, you can get a FREE Silverfast Upgrade to 6.6.0r2 and there is another one due out shortly. Contact Laser Soft Imaging in Sarasota FL @ 941-921-4815 from 3PM to 5PM for tech support from "Boris' -- he is very helpful. The Silverfast is terrific and once you get over the learning curve; you will be very satisfied. Forget the tutorial manual that Amazon links to the hardware; it does not address Silverfast SE technique -- only the higher versions e.g. Silverfast Ai. FYI -- Plustek is coming out with the NEW Plustek 7500i in 4Q2008. It will have the latest Silverfast software and better imaging at a respectful price.
Customer Review: Slide scanner Summary: 5 Stars
I am very pleased with this product. It has done what was promised. When I tried to load the programs to my computer it would not read the disk. I went to the company web site and to support. This was on a Friday Evening. I received an email almost immediatly that said I would receive a call before the end of the next business day. I thought that meant I would not hear anything untill Monday. Well about an hour and a half later tech support called and walked me through downloading what I needed from the internet and stayed on the phone with me untill I had scanned a couple of slides to make sure that everything worked. I was very impressed with the service and the quality of the scanner.
Customer Review: Plustek Optifilm 7200 Negative/Film Scanner Summary: 4 Stars
I love this little scanner!! The software needed to be updated but that was it. I hooked it up, ran the drivers, and started scanning each of my negatives, (only allows one at a time). Very easy to install and the software that came with mine (LaserSoft Imaging) is so cool. Each area has it own movie to watch, just click and watch, if you are using it for the first time or forget how to use THAT PART of the software. They really did thier homework on this software! The pictures come out very good, whether they are color or black and white. If the film is scratch you can fix it with the software. I would recommend this product and its software to anyone.
