Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plantronics UPCALISTO Bluetooth HeadsetCustomer Review: Love this phone - only one drawback. Summary: 4 Stars
I use this phone for my home business. The sound quality (both listening and also for people hearing me) is EXCELLENT. I have always used a headset and with previous phones, have had to use corded headsets which have caught on doorhandles as I walk by...needless to say I have gone through more of them than I can count because of this. The bluetooth headset that is used with this phone is awesome - it's great nice to walk without catching it on something. It can also be paired with any other blue tooth headset if this one is not your preference. Usability and phone function is excellent - note that this phone does not interfere with my wireless.
The drawback...the battery on the phone. At first, the battery life is AWESOME - all of my business is done over the phone and I could get a full 8 hours of talk time (at least) before the battery was running low. However, once the battery started to decrease in longevity, it really started to go. After 6 months of using the phone (daily at an average of 6-8 hours solidly throughout the day), then phone battery now lasts only an hour and a half to 2 hours...tops. I didn't think this would be a problem since I thought I could just get a replacement battery for this phone - which I have found out does NOT exist at this time. There is no way to replace the battery at this time. My solution is that I have purchased a complete second phone so that I'm swapping from one phone to the other...while one is charging, I'm using the other. This is a viable solution for me but it is a little frustrating that I still can't purchase a replacement battery.
Customer Review: No more tangled cords! Summary: 5 Stars
Ordered the Plantronics because I sometimes work at home, but am still attached to corporate phone system via a VPN. I was using a normal wireless internal house phone and an earphone/microphone that plugs into the wireless phone via the 3/32nds inch plug on the side. When walking around the home office, I would constantly catch the cord on something, pulling the phone off the beltclip or the earplug from my ear.
This Plantronics device eliminates the cord and replace the wireless phone. Instead, it uses BlueTooth from its clip pack (about the size of a pack of cigarettes) to the BlueTooth headset (which also works with any BlueTooth enabled cell phone) - no cords to tangle. Sound quality is excellent, the earpiece is lightweight but still stays on the ear, and the range is greater than just the wireless house phone itself, which it can replace.
An added benefit is that if you attach the base unit to a PC via a USB cable, and that PC is connected to the Internet, you can use this system as an Internet/VoIP phone system.
Battery life is very good - a 6 hour support call reduced it to about 50% (something the house wireless phones couldn't do - had to grab another phone and transfer the call) The base is also the charger, and works well - place the beltpack in the base and it starts charging. Snap the headset into the base, and it starts charging.
Worth the money spent - having purchased about 8 different headsets before this, I have problably spent close to the price just in destroyed headsets!
Customer Review: Not a huge fan Summary: 3 Stars
I ordered this phone because I have used and enjoyed Plantronics products in the past. I am not a fan of this one. If you want a hands-free phone that you can roam around your house on, this one will do the job. However I use it for a home business, in which I make a high volume of calls, and I find it a little user UNfriendly.
- The handset is not comfortable to hold or talk, but I think that is because it was made mainly as a hands-free phone.
- The buttons are too small for someone who dials a lot.
- The ear piece is comfortable until you need to press it 20+ times a day to initiate and answer calls, then it starts to get a little irritating.
- The [small] buttons illuminate in a color that makes them a little harder to read when you are looking for letters to enter a name.
The clarity on both sides of the conversation is great on the earpiece and speakerphone and I don't have any problem with seating it in the base, which I read was a problem before I bought it. It also holds a chage well. I use it all morning...put it on the charger for lunch...and then use it all afternoon. I also like that I can use the same headset for my cell phone as well. It has some difficulty switching between phones sometimes, but I am not sure if the problem lies with this phone or my cell. It also seems to have some cool VoIP features that I don't use.
All in all it is a little pricey, but does the job with some minor inconveniences that will hopefully be corrected in the next model.
Customer Review: Excellent Phone!! Summary: 5 Stars
I've worked from home for the past 9 years and have gone through multiple phones/headsets. I'm on conference calls from 6 to 10 hours a day so a good phone is key to my productivity (and sanity).
I'd been using the Plantronics CT10 for several years (3 phones in about 7 years). However, since the headset is corded, I'd frequently catch the cord while I was walking around which resulted in the handset hitting the floor. After breaking my latest phone I was forced to look for a new model. Unfortunately, the CT12 (2.4GHz) won't work for me as I have a wireless network in my office.
I then looked to the Calisto Pro. I was initially put off by the high price-tag, and some of the negative reviews, but was intrigued by all the functionality and the Bluetooth headset.
It's a good thing I listened to all the good reviews and bought the phone!!
I've used the phone daily for the past month and am extremely pleased with it. The call quality is very clear, the headset is easy to wear (even for 10 hours), the battery lasts for several hours (and I can still talk while the handset is charging in the base) and... with a Bluetooth headset, there's no headset cord to catch while I walk around. Also, this phone DOES work with digital phone service (a previous review mentioned that it didn't)
If you're on the phone for several hours a day, and want the freedom to walk around and do other tasks while talking, this phone is a great purchase. I'd definitely purchase it again.
Customer Review: Outstanding phone... headset quality is the weak link... Summary: 4 Stars
I went thru quite a few phones, headsets with working in home office. Found this phone and headset and love it. It works with SKYPE, it works with the phone line, I can click on contacts in Goldmine, it calls and my hands are free with the headset. If I get a call on my cellphone, I can use the Plantronics bluetooth headset and answer the call... just the best!
However, I'm on my 3rd headset. The earpiece that curves over your ear and swivels if you want to use left or right ear, is fragile. It is the hinge where the friction is applied to keep it close to your head... this little piece breaks.
I am by no means a heavy user... I travel most of the time but when in my home office, I'm using this jewel.
Plantronics has replace all 3 with no questions asked and no cost. It is a pain to have to keep calling up customer service, explaining this issue (which others have complained about and they are not resolving).
The last time, I asked the guy if they were working on the issue... how long are they going to keep replacing this headset for me? Have there been quality reports issued? Are they working to resolve the issue? Tick, tock, tick, tock.... just silence. So they know they have a problem but at this point, instead of solving the quality issue, they just replace it, no questions asked.
I'm now treating this one so delicately... Not swiveling from ear to ear... just barely moving the earpiece to get into on my ear...
