Customer Review: Great for Voice Recognition Software

I bought these to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking, which has been a horrendous product to work with. I used three different headsets with it, so I knew it wasn't a headset issue.
I decided to try them with Windows Speech Recognition (it came with my computer in the Ease of Access part of the Accessories folder). They are amazing! They pick up every word with 99% accuracy, the only time I see a difference in accuracy is if I'm tired (I must not speak as clearly as it usually recognizes).
What they don't pick up is the background noises that you don't want interferring with your document. I use these with my desktop PC and recently bought a second pair to use with my laptop. They work just as perfectly. If you're looking for an easy to use, easy to transport headset for speech recognition software, these are the ones!

This is my second Plantronics USB adapter plus headset with microphone.
The first had one earpiece and nice adjustable boom.
Unfortunately the quality of sound in the earpiece was poor and the microphone boom picked up electrical noise (60Hz hum)
Plantronics replaced the headset, the new one was immune to electrical noise, but the boom was no longer adjustable.
This USB adapter and headset has much better audio. The boom is nicely adjustable.
The catch is that the headphone band is very lightweight, the foam earpads are slippery so the unit slides forward with any head movement. As it does so, the microphone moves out of position.
Quite honestly, I expect better from a company with the reputation of Plantronics.

I bought this headset for use with an online class. It worked great! No problems with it and it was simple to begin using. It was comfortable to wear and the people listening to me in class could hear me VERY well. I tried a different headset for an earlier class and this one blew it out of the water! I would highly recommend this for anyone.
My only concern is the foldable aspects of this headset. It seems to be working fine right now and I have folded it up everyday after using it. It does fold up neatly and is easy to store in a small space. I just hope that it continues to stay strong as this would seem to be the place that these headphones would break. We will see, but I am very pleased currently. Plantronics makes great headsets!

I purchased this headset to be used primarily with my speech recognition software - Dragon NaturallySpeaking. After spending money on various headsets, I finally found the perfect one. This headset is very lightweight which makes it extremely comfortable to wear practically all day. The product folds nicely making it very portable. Additionally, it comes with an in-line control that lets you mute the microphone with a touch of a finger. It appears to do a very good job of canceling the background noise. When I dictate, the translation accuracy rate is close to 99%. With other headsets, I use to spent so much time going back to correct the text. I am even thinking of buying an extra headset, just to have it as a backup. Thank you for a great product.Customer Review: Very Nice Fidelity

Plantronics makes some really good products and this headset is no exception. The sound quality is really quite good, as is the microphone.
The set folds up compactly and while I have no reason to believe it won't hold up over time, the parts are plastic and I treat them accordingly. I think that with reasonable treatment this headset should last for many years.
They are comfortable to wear - I just don't care all that much for the over-the-head design. I have the same complaint with my Sennheiser wireless headphones yet I wouldn't trade them (or the Plantronics) for another because the sound quality is so good, so this is not meant to diminish my impression of the quality of the Plantronics; it's just a personal comment about comfort.
