Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Plantronics Foldable USB Stereo Headset (Optimized for Laptop Use) (Audio 470 USB)Customer Review: Good value but quality lacking Summary: 4 Stars
Using the supplied USB dongle, the headset gets decent enough sound. I mainly use it for playing games with friends so I can't judge the sound quality based on music, but it accomplishes what I intended it to. The Supplied USB dongle worked out of the box with no drivers in both OS X and Windows XP which is always nice.
The only gripes I have with this model is that the cord is just way too long and I often get it tangled up in the wheels of my chair. The other issues is that the build quality feels very fragile and cheap. I personally wish they used a stronger plastic for the frame as I feel the slightest mistake will cause them to crack.
Customer Review: Nice sound but Summary: 4 Stars
Headphones have great sound and are a bargain for the price. It is fairly comfortable initially on the head and does fold up fairly small. About 6 inches long by 2 inchs wide by 1.5 inches tall folded. It is great that it has both USB and plug connectors although the USB seems a bit loose.
Couple of downsides. They are fairly heavy and chunky so they get a bit uncomfortable on the head after 20 minutes or so. The cord is very long which is good for movement, but there is no place to store all that cord. Matter of fact, the phones come with nothing to store them so I just use a fat rubber band.
Ovrall a very good value.
Customer Review: A must for the dragon software! Summary: 4 Stars
I read about this headset when I was buying the dragon voice recognition software. After receiving the software and the "high quality" headset that came with it, I quickly realized I should have purchased the Plantronics headset as some had suggested. It is light weight and comfortable and can be used with the USB or just plugged in. The only downside was that I could not adjust the mic more. Overall it is a great headset and could easily have been five stars! I too am suggesting the purchase of this headset if you are buying the dragon software or using it for any other type of voice recognition or microphone.
Customer Review: Foldable but not compact Summary: 3 Stars
Bought these for travel and use with my netbook. I had hoped for good sounding headphones that fold small for travel. Both sound and folded size are disappointing in this model. Had I handled them prior to purchase then I would not have bought them. Sound is OK but the ear pieces don't fit tightly and allow in surrounding noise; tried using them on an airline and simply could not block out the engine noise or people talking. They do fold but the result is still bulky and not very compact and takes much to much space to store for travel. Oh, and the cable is way to long and gets in the way, tangles easily.
Customer Review: Never got a Full Feel for the Product Summary: 3 Stars
The headset is sturdy enough-- don;t be put off by reviews that comment on how "fragile" it appears... whadaya gonna do, play football in it? BUT... we never could get it to work properly. Earphones seemed fine, mike never worked. I work for a tech company, so I took it with my laptop to work to be sure I wasn't doing something wrong in setup... my Tech Wizards confirmed there was something wrong with the mike in the headset. Returned it to Amazon, absulutely hassle-free return/refund... I did not order a replacement set as I could not wait... bought a different set from a local store.
