I purchased PDP-5070HD 4 weeks ago and its image is incredible for both HD and SD video sources.
Wondering for a 1080p native resolution set? Do not waste the money if you can watch this TV from 8+ ft away.
Standard DVD player on this TV produces great image quality and I do not think you need either HD-DVD or Blue-ray player unless you play games.
The only thing unknown is its long term reliability and hopefully it is good at this price.
Amazon's service is also excellent and shipping took total 7 days and went without any problem.

make sure you get an upconverting DVD player....brings existing non-blue ray DVD's (most likely your current collection to 1080i).....(get Oppo brand, see CNET for review)
recommend: WALL MOUNT...although the stand was very nice as well....
speaker detachable, so streamlined for home theater use.....
its PIONEER, need i say more....so worth the $300-$500 price premimun
bottom line: YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR

This is the first TV I've ever purchased (and more than I ever thought I would), and I am thrilled with it. It features enough inputs to keep me busy, and I would be hard-pressed to find flaws in the picture (when I'm watching HD TV [LOST, for Example], I can't really imagine it appearing clearer - and I don't have any HD service from my cable company - just BASIC CABLE!).
I also love playing Call of Duty 2 on this set - fragging never felt so good.
The physical appearance of the Set is beautiful, as well.

I thoroughly researched Plasma and LCD's before I decided to purchase. I saw the Pioneer at Magnolia and fell in love with the design and the picture. I was a little worried about buying it online but I e-mailed Pioneer to make sure it was warrantied, buying it online. They told me it was only if I bought it from Amazon.com. When it came, the delivery guy's brought it upstairs and uncrated it to make sure nothing was wrong. Everyone in my family loves it. One of the best decisions i've made. This is by far the best Plasma T.V. available. I did several months of researched and viewed hundreds of pictures at various stores. I purchased via the internet and saved nearly 1000.00 over the price in an well known electronics store. Flawless picture and easy set up! Mounted over a fireplace w/HDMI via Direct TV. Surround sound system is the Yamaha ysp-1100- Unbelievable! I have recommended this t.v. to three friends and all have purchased them and are extremely happy!
