Customer Review: Serious WOW! factor on TV and Delivery

For months I researched both what HDTV to buy and how best to buy it. I had pretty much decided on 50 inch or so but constanly vacilated between Plasma or LCD and whether to buy online or through a store. Due to my continuous customer success with Amazon - and these reviews, I finally decided to pursue this large dollar purchase via Amazon and their 'white glove' service through Eagle shipping. Due to the expert reviews here, at CNet and elsewhere on the web, I decided to stay with the Pioneer PDP 5070 Plasma. Both exceeded my wildest expectations and have produced a serious WOW! factor in my household. The delivery arrived early. Eagle performed exactly to what the white glove service advised. The TV is flawless and the picture on both standard channels and hi-def is outstanding. I already have two smaller LCD hi-def's so it was an easy comparison. Although I have one small drawback in that the extremely volumnus TV manual is not intuitive and did take a few days of repeated reading, once all was set the HDTV delivered as promised. All-in-all I am very satisfied in my dealings with Amazon, their usage of Eagle for delivery and especially so with my Pioneer plasma HDTV. I purchased this Pioneer plasma for the family room and a 42" Panasonic -600U for the bedroom. The Panasonic was less expensive than the 42" Pioneer (4270) model. While we are very happy with the Panasonic (and it is not really fair to compare a 42" to a 50"), the Pionner exceeded all our expectations:
* Phenomenal display in every respect - colors, brightness, sharpness, real life "feel"
* The best looking display - all black frame is very nice
* Overall construction and components (at least that you can see), all seem really solid
* Removable speaker made mounting on wall even better (connected to Denon receiver for sound)
* Plenty of connection options. My laptop (Dell Latitude D610) likes the higher resolution on the 50" Pioneer much better than the Panasonic. However, neither plasma is that great for laptop display of things like spreadsheets - and neither has the connection for the PC in a convenient location. (Not that important to me and probably caused in part by video card in laptop?)
Our installer told us it was the best plasma display he has ever seen. We are extremely happy with it.
Customer Review: Bummer - No Speaker Cable Included!

My new Pioneer PDP-5070HD arrived from Amazon. I live on an island, and had to make alternative arrangements to bring the TV over on a supply barge, as Eagle Transport would not bring it over. Therefore, I could not inspect the product until it arrived at my house. The box was intact, and no damage appeared. I eagerly unpacked the TV, read the manual about set up, etc., and began the process. Much to my dismay, no speaker cable was included, nor were the speaker mounting screws included, as they were supposed to be. Bummer! I simply could not go the local Circuit City to buy some speaker cable, living on an island like I do, and no one had any that wasn't hooked up to something they had. Result: No TV for 2 days until I was able to get some speaker wire. It would seem that Pioneer could have done better than this. Since my speaker cables and mounting screws were missing, I can't help but wonder if my TV was not a TV that had been returned by someone who did not want it.
The picture is nice. But I have to give the product only 3 stars because of the missing parts, especially the speaker cables, which were essential in order to get sound from the TV.
Customer Review: Revitalize your TV viewing

This TV has an absolutely amazing picture. HD over the air channels are incredible. Regular DVDs even look amazing. SD channels from satellite look respectable too, but can never compare to HD. My wife even enjoys watching sports in HD, now. :) Picture controls and tweaks are very intuitive and work well. Remote has limited range (have to aim exactly at IR port) but i replaced 4 remotes with the Harmon Kardon TC 30 anyway. Inputs are automatically detected, picture is bright. I am looking forward to getting Satellite HD very soon!
I replaced a Mitsubishi CRT 36" with this and couldn't be more pleased. This set may cost more than other brands in simlar sizes, but the quality really is worth it.
I have not noticed any weird buzz or whir coming from this TV that i had on the Mitsu crt. I did notice that some Samsung Plasmas did buzz really loud and that can be quite frustrating.
This TV is well worth the money, and when you connect an HD source you'll be amazed!

Like others on this page I have done my research for over a year. I knew I had to buy a plasma in July 2007 so I took my time to find one. This TV is exceptional. Color quality is absolutely amazing.
Unlike many people here I bought my TV from visualapex.com. Their customer service and delivery arrangements were superb.They had a better price with shipping included. Besides they are an authorized Pioneer seller unlike amazon.com.
This is no way against amazon. I think they do a great job but I'd expected them to be an authorized seller for a company like Pioneer.
Now I need to find a Pioneer receiver to go along with this plasma since my old Sony one broke down after 3 years.
Overall I would highly recommend this TV or the new Pioneer 5080 if you are willing to spend at least 2500 on a tv. Trust me; it is worth it.
ps: After watching HD, regular digital cable seems so dull. For the ones who don't have HD, I would get it asap. This TV brings another level of fun with HD.
