Customer Review: Product has quirks, company support is terrible
Summary: 1 Stars

I have had this unit for almost a year and a half now, had it replaced once and will be returning it. I purchased it for my 2008 Honda Civic when I was looking for a double DIN deck that supports USB audio and built-in Bluetooth support. The radio component works great. Using my Sony Ericson K790 and Bluetooth is sketchy - sometimes it be crystal clear and other times it is very fuzzy.

The worst part is Pioneer customer service. The MP3 component with a USB memory stick is very buggy. It does not sort the folders in alphabetical order. It skips certain files (even though they are encoded per the spec in the owners manual) without any indication as to why. I have been trying to get support for this well over a year and it has been terrible. The customer support folks make commitments to follow up and consistently fail to follow through. The took the device after seeing the MP3 issues in action themselves, and told me they were unable to reproduce the issue in their lab. They have left me with no options to resolve the clearly demonstrated issue. It has taken me since last April to get to this point where I will be looking to return the unit because it does not deliver on its promise. I will never purchase another Pioneer product thanks to their mediocre customer service.

Customer Review: All I need and works for me.
Summary: 4 Stars

Pros:
- Plays almost all my mp3 music.
- Fast load.
- Bluetooth finally works with my Nokia E71. It drops the BT connection with out Pioneer firmware. Firmware it is just a jpeg file NOKIA-A.jpg. Not sure how it works, but works. You can download it from Pioneer EU web site.
- Displays Russian tags and phone book!. One of the main reason why I bought it.
- Nice clean interface. Very intuitive. It is hard to find a car player with a normal interface with out junky animation and dozen microscopic buttons.
- Power enought for my 2003 Honda CR-V
- Sony wired Rotary Commander remote works well with this player, but directions Left-Right are opposite and you cannot change it.
- Plug an USB drive and it will start playing right away from last played song.

Cons:
- Display has only bright blue color. Brightnes can be changed from bright to very bright. I wish it was a dark green like old car players. Very anooying.
- Glossy finish as fingerprint magnet.
- Flimsy microphone mount. But mic works great. Sound is clear.
- Came with useless dash panel trim. Some kind of do your self trim. I had to buy another from Metra. Honda has bigger double din opening size. Should fit well in Subaru.

Customer Review: Best Car Receiver Ive ever owned!
Summary: 5 Stars

The sound from this receiver sounds great. It completely blows away the factory crap that came with my car.

The #1 feature i love about this receiver is the BLUETOOTH AUDIO INTEGRATION.

I have a touch pro 2, with a lot of music on my memory card.

As soon as i step inside the car, the radio AUTO PAIRS TO MY PHONE and then i can start listening to my music from my phone!

This is also great for streaming internet radio from my phone via bluetooth...I NEVER have to listen to regular FM/AM radio again!

Before i have to go through the tedious routine of having to manually pair my phone to in order to listen to music....Needless to say the auto pair feature of this radio blew me away!

The bluetooth audio sounds great and clear. And on top of that i can also make/receive calls while the phone is paired to the radio.

Another feature i like about this receiver is that you can tweak the audio settings down to the equalizer frequency. Theres just not enough i can say about this receiver, it was definitely worth the purchase and i would recommend this to anyone who enjoys the ability to stream bluetooth audio.

Customer Review: BT8000 mixed blessing
Summary: 3 Stars

I have a Pioneer BT8000 (with HD) in my 2003 Subaru Forester with the upgraded Subaru speakers and sub woofer. I also added the ipod cable for my daughter.

The good news is; Bluetooth phone capabilities (used with a Motorola V9M) are excellent and well behaved, call quality excellent, radio audio also excellent. The radio switches to phone if a call comes in, switches back afterwards. HD, when you get it, can sound great.

The bad news is that it is very hard to use. There just are not enough controls. Each major control has numerous uses but only one use per control is listed. Setup is very difficult. No on-off switch (function is in another button and hidden). You try to raise the volume and you change the frequency or the preset. Tuner sensitivity on AM is poor at least with the HD tuner. The steering wheel remote is hard to mount, even harder to use without looking at it. Even worse, the manual is one of the worst I've ever gone through. Too many things are made too complicated or are not even covered. The quick setup is even worse.

I'd give this 4 stars if only the documentation were decent.

Customer Review: Great Pioneer DoubleDin !!!

Pioneer Premier FH-P800BT - Radio / CD / MP3 player / USB flash player - Double-DIN - in-dash - 50 Watts x 4

This radio is great. I am reviewing the FH-P800BT. It fit absolutely perfect in my 2007 Chevy Silverado. I was able to pair up my iphone and download all the contacts instantly with no problem. This radio can memorize up to 3600 different numbers: 400 persons x 3 contacts x 3 phones. Even though I kept the factory speakers, this unit has made a world of difference. Much louder, cleaner, distinct sound comes from the same speakers...The remote has a nice feel and a cool little control knob as well. 22rms is good power, and (3) 4volt preamp outputs makes it great for future expansion which I plan to do.
I have also done as others have...I purchased a usb powered 2.5" external 250gb harddrive and connected it to the unit with no issue!! Talk about music storage! This unit is an absolute must have for anyone looking for a double din size radio. For all the features and quality, no other radio comes close.
