Customer Review: Great Receiver to use with ipod

my idea was to not have any more audio CDs in my vehicle, i would have all my audio stored in a USB hard drive or ipod, which i would keep in my glove box. This receiver was the perfect solution for this idea. My only concerns were the following:
1) with my itouch 2g, if firmware is higher than 3.0 the unit will have a hard time recognizing the itouch when you turn the car off and then back on. This got on my nerves so i had to downgrade my unit to 3.0 which erased everything off the itouch.
2) on the dial button, you always have to move it to the right more than any other direction, thus it gets more worn down pushing it to the right. Maybe i should use the remote control more?
3)when you move through the directories on the ipod with the car's receiver, it keeps track where you left off when you try to move again to another directory. But if you turn the car off and then try to navigate to another directory, you have to start from the root directory.
4) on a usb thumb stick some times the unit locks up when it reads the mp3s, so you have to restart. Not sure why this happened, maybe it was one of my audio files.
I've had my unit for close to an year now, and i'm very happy with it i would recommend it to anyone
Update: May 2010 - This unit does not work with the iPad, just in case anyone out there was wondering.

When I bought this about a year ago, I wanted a cheap stereo that would give me bluetooth hands-free operation in my car and let me play songs from my iPhone.
This unit fills those requirements and is about the only thing on the market that does at this price point.
But there's a lot of negatives: The user interface is clumsy and difficult. The song titles from my iPhone don't appear on the head unit and I get an annoying alert on the iPhone saying this accessory is designed for iPod and not iPhone. Before iOS 4, the song titles displayed, but since upgrading, that doesn't work anymore. If the playlist finishes, it's not clear to me how to re-start playing from the head unit without going to the iPhone.
Installation was relatively simple--I ordered this from Crutchfield, who includes free instructions for your car and a wiring harness for your car too. I installed this in a 2001 Honda Accord, and it wasn't too difficult--but installing stereos has gotten a lot harder since the 80s with all the hidden metal clips. Just take your time.
Sound quality is fine, and I think this is a decent value. Bluetooth call quality is fine--I was able to route the mic to clip onto my driver's side visor without much work. It was a great upgrade for my car, which isn't worth much, but the tough controls hold this unit back.

so i owned it for about 2 years i think i can review it now. i have it running with 4 pioneer premier speakers. installing it was easy no problems . the sound is very high quality if you have a legit CD or iPod. turn on the rear sub woofer, loudness on mid and base +1 options and hear the base kicking through those 4 speakers some of my friends don't believe i don't have a sub. I play music through my iPod it was very easy to control you might get error-19 just unplug it play the song the plug it in then when you go home clear some memory on your iPod. radio is decent i don't really use it much but i had no problem with FM it sounded good. CDs sounds really good mp3,wma and audio was great. you can build a bigger system with this it my friend has it hooked up to amp and 2 sub-woofers 1000w and man it sounds awesome.The bluetooth handsfree is simply awesome i had it hooked up to windows mobile, blackberry, andriods, and iphone no problem with any of those and the music you play through the phone will be heard on your car speakers through bluetooth if you know how to use your phone ;). ok it might look like it is prefect,not really, as it looks beautiful but it's not easy to control at first .if you don't get along easily with new electronics then stay away from this or you will hit someone looking on the screen trying to pic a song or change a setting.Customer Review: Not working with the iPhone 3GS and iOS4

I'm afraid if you are planning to pair it with the iPhone with OS4, it will not work. I just bought this unit and am pretty upset that it does not work the way they advertise. Also, the USB iPod connection will randomly disconnect and you need to reset the connection to get it to play again. This happens every time I start my car and use it for a while. I'm pretty tech savvy and read the entire manual so I know it isn't operator error. I just sent Pioneer an email which I will keep in communication through this review about what I learn.
Update: July 17th 2010
After speaking with Pioneer via phone, they said that all of their units are having problems with the iOS4 in regards to Bluetooth connectivity. There is no resolution and there is no way of getting notification when they resolve the problem. Unfortunately, Pioneer has not kept their products current with Apple's iOS which means the consumer is going to end up with a stereo that does not work.
In closing, I spent $500 for a new stereo that does nothing more than my old factory stereo for music playback. I am not satisfied with my purchase.

HAS ADVANCED SOUND RETRIVER AS I MENTIONED, ALSO IT HAS 3 RCA HI-VOLT PREOUTS. BUILT IN MOSFET 50 X 4 AMPLIFIER.
