Good add-on for a Vista based computer to give remote control for Media Center. This is the best device to unlock the features of Media Center.
My furthest distance need is about 25 feet from the remote reciever (which sits on top of a cabinet that holds my HP Slim) and works through a usb hub. It does not need line of sight between the two devices. It has an IR add-on (which plugs into the remote reciever) for control of set top box (cable/dish) and appears it could control two (with an additional IR blaster; only one included).
Comes with moderate batteries so plan on replacing within a month if it is used much...
A 2005 Media Center based computer I own came with a similar controller (exact same layout of buttons and shape) and after three years of hard use it still functions quite well. I have used two other Media Center remote controllers, none have more functions than this controller nor are they as intuitive. The feel is comfortable in the hand and the bottons have a positive feel.
Only thing that could possibly make it better is if it could turn on and off my TV/monitor.
