Customer Review: Enough for a Feast

As other reviewers have mentioned these portable speakers are not loud as they depend on your device for volume. But I can say as an audiophile and musician -- these little speakers are fantastic! They have true range of sound (highs, mids, lows) with fine gradients as well. If you put them up to your ear you will hear just how clear and true the sound is. Of course you will not listen to them this way -- but to judge the quality of the sound - that is the test I used. Heard from a distance, they are like the aroma of fine wine - you get a whiff of the true body of the wine -- but not the full taste.
I wanted speakers for my mp3 player and cd player as my trusty old boombox can't play cds or mp3s. I am listening to some classic jazz tunes on the speakers as I write and they sound terrific! They are just not really loud. But at my stage of life I enjoy softer volumes anyway. If you can live with that, then you've bought a mini masterpiece from one of the finest sound technicians around - Philips - for under $12. In our culture of constant loud noise --quality sound at low levels is refreshing. These speakers remind me of a zen saying I heard recently that "Enough is a feast." These speakers are enough for a feast.
