Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips PH-61153 4x1 Automatic Audio/Video Selector and RF ModulatorCustomer Review: Does the job Summary: 5 Stars
Easy to hook up. Easy to use. Works as advertised. For the little extra money that this unit cost, over and above what the less expensive models offered cost, it has desirable extra features, like the ability to hook up more than one piece of equipment and the ability to change from one component to another with the push of a button. The only negative observation has been noted by other reviewers - the unit is a light plastic and tends to topple over if put upright into its plastic holder. But other than that, 5 stars!
Customer Review: Conceptually Good Summary: 3 Stars
This product was well thought-out but has a few technical issues. It works exactly as described in the product's description. However, there is a minor flaw in the technical design which allows audible noise to be heard when switching from one input to the next when only one or two inputs are engaged. The noise is not very loud. I discovered that the noise can be totally eliminated if all the inputs are engaged.
If you are looking for a switch with this functionality, I would recommend this one.
Customer Review: Great! Almost. Summary: 4 Stars
Works great! I'd give it 5 stars except for two minor flaws... (1) Won't stand up with cables attached, falls over, so I just shoved it behind my cable box and DVD player, out of sight. (2) Composite video input source (cable box) with S-video chosen as output from the 61153 is of minimal quality... "fuzzies" on sharp image transitions, also some color distortion. My system will accept as inputs both composite and S-video. Choosing the composite output from the 61153 got rid of the image distortion.
Customer Review: Good switch Summary: 4 Stars
I use this to connect a PC and old Sega Saturn to a coaxial CRT TV. I used to connect using a Panasonic VCR, but ran out of outputs. The video quality of this switch is the same as the VCR. Another nice feature of this switch is that it will try to auto detect/select an input source. It seems though that Philips, a solid company in electronics, could have made a better design. Something more compact, that does not have a tendency to have balance instability standing up or laying down.
Customer Review: Easy to use video switch Summary: 5 Stars
I've been using this new video device for a few weeks now and love the auto-switching feature. It works like a charm. Messed up a bit at first (cause I didn't read the instructions) but it seems that port 1 has the lowest priority; go figure. The video pass-through quality is excellent. It has allowed me to start using too many electronics (DVD, XBOX, VCR - yeah, I know, there are still a few of us out there that use one )...
