Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips PH-61153 4x1 Automatic Audio/Video Selector and RF ModulatorCustomer Review: wow this is better than I thought Summary: 5 Stars
Our TV is just old enough to not have all the fancy outputs so when we got a new DVD recorder, we couldn't hook it up since we already had a VCR and TIVO system. So I found this and only bought it because it would support all of our units. We hooked it up, It was super easy. Everything works wonderfully, the picture is very clear. Much clearer than it has ever been, we used to route everything through a VCR that we never used except for this purpose. When you power on any unit plugged into the modulator, it automatically senses it and does all the work for you so you don't have hit the function buttons over and over to get to the right screen. Worth every penny and I don't know how I lived with out this for so long.
Customer Review: Genious product Summary: 5 Stars
This thing is just pure awesome. I have a PS2, Wii, xbox, and DVD player attached to this. One reason in particular I like it so much is the ability for it to prioritize which component comes on based off of the inputs it is connected to. That's very handy for playing a movie while being in a game at a point where you can't save the game - but you don't need to turn it off or unplug it in order to watch the movie. It's surprisingly convenient. Also, it makes the wire nest behind your TV next to nothing.
I'm very happy with it, although the unit doesn't really stand rigidly in my entertainment cabinet but it doesn't matter since it's generally hidden from sight anyway.
Customer Review: works as advertised Summary: 5 Stars
this really cleaned up our setup, and it is easy to use. had to play around with the priority -- I have a few devices that come on automatically when I turn on the power to the entertainment center... and I wanted those to be low priority. The documentation sheet that came with it had a typo on the priority, so I was scratching my head for a while until I determined the true priority of the different ports (which was more logical than the documentation). price is right. it is possible to mix and match composite and s-video on different ports (I was not 100% sure on this until I tried it).
Customer Review: Delivered on it's Design Summary: 5 Stars
Searched for a product that would ease the use of a TV, Digital Converter Box, DVD Player, and audio sound system without having to move av cables around depending on the source (DVD or DC Box), and found this switch box. Hooked up the converter box as the default and the DVD as secondary (also have ports remaining for a stand alone VCR and other video equipment options). It works as designed with my configuration (including stereo RCA cables to the sound system) without issue and has been reliable. I have not had to use the manual switching option at all. Great value for cost.
Customer Review: A 'must have' for older TV or multiple video sources Summary: 5 Stars
This product worked perfectly right out of the box. But you SHOULD read the instructions to understand the unit's 'precedence' overrides used for multiple sources when in Auto mode. For the reviewer that complained about the "constantly blinking light" - just switch the unit's mode OFF of 'scan!'
An added 'bonus' is that this unit seems to 'boost' the cable or antenna signal so the TV picture is sharper and more defined. If you have an older TV with only an RF input you should definitely go with this unit over the cheaper, single-source RF converter boxes.
