Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips AJ3910 CD Clock RadioCustomer Review: Is there a cd-radio worth the bucks ($) Summary: 2 Stars
Purchased this as a replacement for the RCA RP5640 - CD clock radio which lasted all of 12 days. While the Philips cost ~40% less, it didn't impress on the large points (not feeling "cheap" and not auto-setting the current time) and the small (didn't include the backup battery). Other small points: (1.) The clock face doesn't appear to have a dimmer switch, and in order to play a CD you've got to have a red "cylon eye" glowing as well. (2.) The mechanism of the cd player can be heard from 2 feet away (a "whirring").
If it lasts, I may recall that ~$40 USD was a decent price. Right now, I'm thinking not-so-much.
Customer Review: Very nice Summary: 4 Stars
This is a pretty good only a couple of small complaints.
1. the numbers are very bright so at times I have to put a barrier up so it doesn't disturb me. My husband likes that the numbers are larger than my previous one so he can see them when he's getting dressed since his doesn't have illuminated numbers.
2. CD/Alarm - I can't fall asleep to a CD if I don't want to be awakend by a CD. You can only select Radio/CD/Alarm.
The "sleep" time between alarms is 6 minutes, which I find odd, but that's fine. Love the 2 alarm settings...one for weekday and one if I need it on the weekends.
Customer Review: Nice Sound, Nice Size - Worth the tiny price..... Summary: 5 Stars
Nice, wide stereo sound for such a small, compact unit. The volume isn't going to blast you out of the room, but it's fine for ocassional listening in the bedroom. Dual alarams come in handy when you're both sharing the same clock too. Reading some of the other reviews, I was hesitant to order, but it's perfect for my needs. How much should you REALLY expect from an under 50$ clock - radio - CD player? Not being able to pick a specific track on a CD to wake to isn't a big deal to me - I use the buzzer alarm anyway. This clock actually delivers more that I expected after reading others reviews.......
Customer Review: Total junk... CD player broke after 4 months, radio drifts Summary: 1 Stars
Beware: this clock radio is JUNK. The CD player stopped working after about 4 months, used just once daily to play bedtime music for our baby. The radio doesn't have digital PLL tuning, rather it uses a cheap analog tuning dial... that way you can feel like you're back in the 1970s. It even drifts off the station periodically and requires you to fine tune it again. As others have said, the sound from this unit is hollow and lacking bass. Very disappointed and sorry to have wasted my money on this, especially after having fairly good luck with a previous Philips clock radio.
Customer Review: easy to use Summary: 4 Stars
I like the dual alarm, and how easy it is to set everything. I don't really use the cd player much, so it doesn't bother me that it only starts on the first song for the cd alarm. I use the radio. My station doesn't always come in well on radios, but it does on this one. The sound quality in general could be slightly better, which is why I gave it a four instead of a five, but it still works great for an alarm radio. It looks nice on my desk and isn't too bulky considering the CD player. I would buy it again.
