Customer Review: Not too bad...

I've had this product for a couple of years now, and it works the same as it did when I first got it. First of all, my main desire for the product was a reliable alarm clock with a decent radio (I hate waking to a buzzer) and with the option of playing cd's should the mood strike. The radio reception isn't great, but it's good enough for what I use it for. I don't use the cd player very often, but, again, have no major complaints when I have used it.
I have two minor issues with the unit, and one that is a little more major. First the minors: 1) It's really bright. I have to turn it around at night because it's too bright to have it facing the bed. 2) The six-minute snooze cycle is a little too short. The older I get, the more I rely on that extra "stolen" few minutes in the morning to transition from dead sleep to full awake...and I'm not crazy about being disturbed in the middle of that time to reset my snooze again. Now the more major problem, and one that has caught me in a bind a few times....when the power blinks off and the clock resets to 12:00, it doesn't flash to let you know. So, if the power blinks off and on at 2am, the clock resets and looks normal to you when you wake up to see "5am" when it's really 7...not to mention the alarm turns off when the power blinks. I'm a heavy sleeper, often waking a little disoriented. So if I see it's "5" and I don't have to get up til "6" I'll go back to sleep really quickly without verifying a secondary time source or checking to make sure my alarm is still set. I like clocks to flash when they're reset!
With these few exceptions, not a really bad purchase!
Customer Review: ONE MAJOR FLAW

This unit and it's successor the AJ3910/37B both suffer from the same fatal flaw: although the packaging states in large bold lettering: "Wake to your favorite CD track," there is no way to set a track number for the alarm. The unit's alarm will ONLY wake you with the first track of the CD. I called Philips support (which was quite helpful), and they confirmed this. They also confirmed that Philips does not make a comperable product with said feature.
It's a shame really because everything else about the unit is top notch. The clock read-out is clear and bright enough to read across the room without my glasses on, yet not so bright as to disturb my sleep. The sound is top notch for such a small unit, and the controls are pretty easy to use.
But the lack of ability to select a specific track to wake up to is a fatal flaw. When faced with the decision to either: (a.) burn a pile of custom CDs, or (b.) exchange the unit for one with the all-important feature, I'd rather exchange the unit.
Customer Review: Great little clock radio CD player

I found this to be a great little device. I wanted to play music in the kitchen and needed something small for on top of the refrigerator with dials that could be easily reached from that position. The radio sound and the CD sound are good and the antenna is inside the unit so this avoids having to try to turn an external antenna around to get a good signal. It will display your choice of military time or regular time. I have had a problem with keeping the "regular" time displayed as it seems to jump to the military time display somehow. Maybe this is just me and I will have to re-read the directions again. The only suggestions for improvement I might make would be to illuminate the radio station indicator bar so it is easier to see when you are searching for channels. My sister owns this unit and she bought one for me and I liked this unit so much I bought one for two family members. This is a nice product for that out-of-the-way place in your home where you'd need a small player to listen to music.Customer Review: Poorly engineered product

I rarely write reviews, but this product is so bad I felt I had to warn others away from it. Here are the problems I have had:
1. The unit has a hard time recognizing standard CDs. I have to power down and up several times to get it to recognize a disk. CD compartment is clean, and I have never touched the lens. It's a good thing I don't use this as an alarm.
2. The clock runs obnoxiously fast. I have to constantly reset the time. It has drifted eight minutes forward over a month on several occasions. I still cannot spot a cause.
3. The sound is average, at best, and annoyingly tinny most of the time.
4. At times the control buttons have become unresponsive.
5. Radio tuning is quite difficult, even though I live in an area with strong signals.
As a person working in a technical field, I cannot forgive the poor engineering of this product. I will be recycling it as soon as I buy a replacement.
Customer Review: Bad customer service, Bad radio reception, Package smells weird

My purpose of purchasing this cd clock radio is to listen radio and cd. First when i received this package smells super weird like got it from homeless. Then I tried to listen am 1400/1450 snd some fm channels. all i heard was instead. so i wrote to let "c_amazon-deals" the partner store know that this product was not working. They told me to send the item back to them and could get full refund but shipping fee were nonrefundable. I do not want to keep this crappy thing in my room. So i sent the item back to them and had to paid return shipping fee from my own pocket which is around $12 eventhough the radio is not working. After they got my returned radio and tried to charged me 4 dollors more saying for the extra shipping fee they paid. I felt myself got trick by this marketplace seller. Stay Away from this marketplace seller.
