Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips 7-Inch Digital Photo Frame (Clear & Black)Customer Review: Okay... JUST okay... for the money Summary: 2 Stars
This "newer version" of the 6.5" model does NOT have a resolution of 800x480 as advertised. According to the specs on the box, it has a resolution of 720x480. I am not finding the picture particularly crisp, and the color is less than spectacular. I wanted a smaller frame for my desk at work, so that I did not have to have multiple picture frames and loose photos cluttering up my workspace. This frame is what I was looking for in terms of size, but that is probably its best attribute. The overall features are okay, but the controls are awkward and difficult to manipulate. I will give this frame a reasonable test run under office lighting, but I may just remove my SD card and send it back if I am not happy. The $79.00 price was very enticing, but now I am wondering if I should have spent an extra $20.00 or so, and purchased the 7" Sony model on sale through other websites. I have purchased several other digital frames over the last two years, and I must say, this is the most disappointing purchase of all of them.
Customer Review: Disappointing for Philips Summary: 2 Stars
I like and respect Philips, but not this product.
I use it to display random vacation shots, and the software is good. The wipes are random, the slides are random, which is not always true, and unlike some others, it doesn't freeze. But the contrast ratio is low, like LCDs two generations ago.
One reason that I got it is the clock which is superimposed over the picture, not taking real estate. A very good idea but even though it has many languages to choose from it has only one clock, the 24-hour one. I'm not in the military nor in Germany, and if a camera this cheap can have a 12-hour clock, this thing should too.
Very disappointing from a fine company.
Updated. Less than two months old it entirely died. It deserves zero stars.
Customer Review: Great little Photoframe Summary: 5 Stars
This is a nicely styled, bright and sharp frame. I got this as a gift for my mother and grandparents and they seemed to really be excited. The picture is bright and sharp, and, as you can see, the frame itself looks awesome. I like how it is a a clock as well.
The only two things I didn't like about it were the fact that your settings dissapear when you unplug it, and the interface is not matched well with the buttons. It's pretty confusiing. Afyter some tinkering I got used to it and set it up the way I liked, but I know for sure my grandparents and mother will not mess with it at all and just leave my settings on. Which is too bad, there are some really cool features you can set, like an auto on- auto off setting.
All in all, though, I still recommend this frame.
Customer Review: Gift for my Mother-in-law... Summary: 5 Stars
My Mother-in-law had been hinting around that she wanted this photo frame to display family photos. I was shocked to see how expensive these were, so several gift-giving occasions went by without me purchasing one for her. I was looking on-line at Amazon's website for other items and just happened to stumble upon this digital photo frame, and was surprised to see the great deal. I placed my order and got free shipping and my Mother-in-law is tickled pink. The only problem now is, she's begging us to have a family portrait made and I HATE having my picture taken. Oh well, I suppose I'll make an appointment soon, as she has a birthday coming next month. Very great product and a very reasonable price! Thanks AMAZON!!!!
Customer Review: Digital Photo Frame Summary: 5 Stars
The quality of the frame is good. It is a great frame if you want a basic frame that shows your photos in a slide show format (no sound, blue tooth, etc.). The resolution is 720 x 480, about double of most frames this size. The frame is good looking, but the plastic stand in back might break off if dropped. It has a clock with option to turn it off, manual or auto off and on, the ability to set different slide show intervals, limited editing in thumb nail mode, brightness adjustment, accepts up to a 2 GB card (internal memory is limited). Controls are in back along the top but easily reachable from the front. All in all a great frame for the price-$60.00 on 12/13/08 from Amazon.
