Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips AJ3600 Time Projection Clock RadioCustomer Review: Just ok, but could of been much more Summary: 3 Stars
As an alarm clock it does what it is supposed to do and does it fairly well. All the buttons are marked and easy to operate, plus it has battery backup. As a projection alarm clock it falls middle of the pack. The projection is limited by its position on the side the clock, so getting it to display it where you want is a bit tricky. When you do get that location it better be close, because the projection is on the small side. It needs to be at least twice as big and much brighter.
The location of the buttons to turn the alarm on/off is in a weird spot as it requires two hands. One to hold the clock, the other to push the button. If you're not careful you can easily hit other buttons.
The FM reception for the radio is poor. It's not like I actually listen to the radio, but the reason you buy a radio alarm clock is so you don't have to wake up to that annoying beep. I would like to wake up to more FM and less static.
The best part of the clock is that you can adjust the brightness of the display. At the lowest setting it is just bright enough to see the time. Good thing, because you might not be able to see the projection.
It's not that it is a bad clock, it is just adequate in all areas. When I find something better I will swap it out. Until then it will do.
Customer Review: Not the best Projection clock....lacking. Summary: 3 Stars

This clock has really nice features but the actual projection is not one of them. My husband has a projection clock and side by side this Philips clock does not compare. The projection is fuzzy and not clear and the size of the projetion cannot be changed once you find the spot you want it in. I found it strange that the plug in cord is white while the unit is silver. Also for a new clock I would have expected a mp3 plug in somewhere on the clock but there is none.
Things I do like about this clock: The backlight has three different settings (nice), the shape is nice and compact and the sound is good(once you get a clear station), it has two alarms that are easy to turn on and off with a push button, nice large time read-out, it looks kind of like a wheel and tire from the side which is coool, easy to set time and alarms, both battery and electric.
Customer Review: Poor Construction: Weak Projection Summary: 2 Stars

I had high hopes for this alarm clock, but the projection is very dim, and after traveling a mere 7 feet to my ceiling, it is still pretty small. Also the projection is red which is not very pleasant. The clock chews up batteries if left unplugged about 24 hours with the projection on (but fine for the rare power outage). The alarms are too easy to turn on and off, it is just a light touch of a button. I prefer a lever so that you cannot accidentally turn on the alarm. Clocks of this size and price should also allow you to set the date, and different timed alarms for different days of the week.
The only things I like about the clock are the form factor, kinda modern, and the projection alignment options (but the projection is dim, and only red). I am keeping it as an office clock since in the bedroom it is of little added value.

I wanted to like this clock better. It looks very contemporary, it is feature rich (at least on paper), and the LCD display is large and well organized.
The time projection is a nice feature. The clock allows you to point the image almost anywhere. It allows you to rotate and invert the image so it looks correct in any direction. The image is very dim, however. Another problem, obviously not limited to this projection clock, is that if you wear eyeglasses and your vision isn't good enough to read off the ceiling, the projection feature becomes almost useless. You have to put on eyeglasses to see it. It's easier to look at the clock.
The radio sounds cheap and tinny - like 70s transistor radio, and the reception is poor, even with the FM antenna (pigtail).

Customer Review: Great projector clock Summary: 5 Stars
I had the Oregon Scientific RM313PNA for years, and really wasn't very happy with it. The projector on it finally died, so I bought this Philips clock -- which I am much happier with. I've owned 3 projector clocks now, and this one easily has the best projector adjustability. As other reviewers mentioned, the projected time does go at an angle from the clock -- but there's a button that lets you rotate the image to make it level from just about any perspective. You can also move the image vertically. Radio receiption is great, and the main display is very readable and nicely illuminate. My sole complaint is that if you use both alarms, the first can only be a radio alarm -- and the 2nd can only be a buzzer alarm. I prefer buzzer alarms, and wish I could set both of them to that mode. Aside from that negligible issue, I'm very happy with my purchase, and would highly recommend this clock.
