Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips 9-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Metal)

Customer Review: Poor customer service and Sequential mode does not work
Summary: 2 Stars

I received the Metal frame from Amazon. Apart from the really poor PC software, it worked fine except the pictures ALWAYS show in RANDOM order (whether you pick RANDOM or SEQUENTIAL)! After a couple of emails and phone calls, Philips "Customer Service" agreed to replace it. I had to ship it to Philips at my OWN expense.
After waiting over a month, I have received a replacement. It's the Wood one -- I wanted a Metal one! I called "Customer Service" and they said they probably didn't have any Metal ones in stock.
Anyway, the killer for me is that SEQUENTIAL photo viewing does not work on this one either!! I have 400 photos on my SD card and they can only show in RANDOM order -- that is ridiculous.
I have bought Philips products before but this will be the last that I buy...

Customer Review: Great frame
Summary: 5 Stars

Love this frame!!! The quality compared to most is very good! The special effects that it uses to change between photos are really cool. It is very easy to set-up and use. Having the built in memory is a plus. The fact I didn't need to use a reader/writer and could transfer photos already on my computer to the SD Card (or other memory card)right in the photo frame was great. The drag and drop software was really easy to use to put the photos in the ordered that I wanted them to appear in once on the frame. One of the best features is being able to unplug the frame and still show photos with the built in battery. It is nice that battery will recharge while just plugged into the wall automatically! GREAT FRAME. Have bought 2 (one as a gift and kept one). Will buy more as gifts!

Customer Review: the 9 inch, which is 8 inch, Philips Digital Picture Frame, Metal
Summary: 3 Stars

The performance of this product is outstanding. The size of this item is not quite 8.2 inches, or really barely over 8 inches, yet has been noted as a 9 inch frame. That keeps me from rating this as five star. When pricing digital frames, I looked at 9 inch frames for comparison.

The nicest features of this unit includes the automatic rotation when turning the frame from landscape to portrait, even when held in hand, back and forth. A very nice display, and you can even have the time display as well.

Again, I would have given this five stars if it was advertised/sold/represented as a 8 inch digital frame. If I wasn't already late for the gift presentation, I would have sent it back and asked for refund of the expedited shipping costs.

Customer Review: Great picture frame
Summary: 5 Stars

I've seen some bad digital frames- ones that stretch out the picture, making everyone look fat, or dim displays with bad color. The Philips frame is absolutely the opposite: it's delightfully easy to use and the picture quality is great. Pictures are automatically sized, cropped, even rotated when you turn the frame. I didn't need the software they included. I just dumped a pile of pictures on a CF card (using my camera wired to a computer) and then plugged the card into the frame. The menus in the frame are navigated with a little joystick on the back. It's not the nicest menu system, but I got the hang of it pretty quickly. If you are buying this for Grandma (of course) here's a tip: buy two memory cards so that you can switch photo albums when you visit.

Customer Review: Very nice frame - now I want one!
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this for my parents as an Xmas gift and preloaded the pictures for them so it would be ready to use. I really like the product, it's very elegant and stury at the same time. (Not cheap, cheezy or too electronic looking if you know what I mean...). Now I want one for myself.

I would give it a 5 stars except it was a bit cumbersome and confusing to setup even for me being a technie geek. I think the software needs to be more friendlier. If the graphical interface (GUI) on the frame was easier to use without requiring too much effort to read the manual as well as having some ability to expand "small" photos to take up the entire picture window area automatically, it'd be the perfect product.

I hope I get one myself soon!
