I purchased this product as a Christmas gift for my mother-in-law. Since she is elderly and not very tech savvy, I opened it so I could load photos on it before giftwrapping. The connection to my PC didn't work. I tried with my laptop - same problem. After several calls to Philips (they need better trained people in the customer service department), they sent me a new USB cable. Still had the same problem. So I requested a replacement unit. TWO MONTHS LATER, it arrives (I won't go through all the phone calls trying to find out when it would be shipped with no satisfaction). The connection to the PC worked for the photo frame but not for the SD memory card. And the battery is bad - only lasts 15 minutes instead of the 8 hours advertised. At least the battery worked on the original frame. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT. Unfortunately, Philips sells substandard products and doesn't care about customer loyalty. I bought this product 2 months ago. After some days of using it, a vertical green line appeared on the screen. At that time, I did not know that I could return it to Amazon, so I contacted Phillips Customer Center for assistance. A Phillips representative told me to send the defective photo frame to Phillips Consumer Repair and Exchange.
After a few weeks, I got the photo frame back, but the problem was worst than before. More than half of the screen was blank, and the line was still there. I called Phillips Customer Center again and asked the representative how a defective product can be send back to a customer. He said that it might have been damaged with the shipping. I believe that Phillips just sent back to me the same defective device.
Now I have to ship it again to Phillips for a replacement. Nevertheless, I live outside of the US, and the shipping fee is expensive. My advice: don't buy this product!!!

I bought this Phillips digital frame for my wife; we're both very happy with it.
The pictures are clear with vivid color.
After finally understanding the directions, it's very easy to transfer ones photographs from a computer to the frame.
The slide show feature is attractive with a variety of different transitions from one photograph to another.
The only quirk I've encountered is in programming the date. The frame won't acknowledge a date beyond the 12th of any month. Frankly, I find that problem to be insignificant; I'm not using the frame as a calander.
The frame, itself, is very stylish and appears to be very sturdy.
I spent time researching other frames at a variety of prices. I have to say that one should spend the extra money.
Overall, this Phillips frame is tremendous buy and worth every penny.
Customer Review: Good product but bad photo software

I spend about 3-hrs trying to figure out the flawed software. It has problems transferring pictures to a SD card. The software kept hanging, when I tried to copy more than five pictures from my PC. It also crashed my new windows Vista for the first time in 3-months. As such, it seems to be a good product. Wish they had a good photo transfer software and bigger internal memory.
Update July05, 2008: I have found a way to work around the flawed Philips software and its interaction with a SD card.
Step(1): Move your pictures, 50-80 at a time, to the internal memory of the photo frame.
Step(2): Now using the "move" function in photo frame, move the pictures from internal memory to the SD card. Step(3): Repeat #1 and #2, for all your pictures. Phoof! This works like a charm.
If you are having problems transferring to your photo frames SD card, this will help.

Having purchased three inferior products at [...]respectively, I must say this frame at [..]is a keeper. Its everything I was looking for in a digital frame, and a few things I was not. The color and clarity are amazing, there are plenty of options for the slideshow, and it even knows when you have turned it on its end in the middle of the slideshow, and re-orients the picture appropriately! It was very easy and intuitive to set up, and within minutes I had 600 pictures loaded on to a SD card and ready to go. (The 1 GB card cost me [..]at Staples, and it is only half full!) I just unplugged it to take it to lunch with a friend and show her, and the battery worked just great. She is buying one for her husband for father's day, and now I guess I'm going to have to buy one too. Really, the only problem with this product is that you are going to want to buy one for everyone you know.
