Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Philips 9-Inch Digital Picture Frame (Metal)Customer Review: Great quality Summary: 4 Stars
This photoframe has the best image quality I have seen of the photoframes I looked at. The new controls are easier to use than previous models. The only fault is that we could not get it to work with our Mac computer even though I thought the product info said it was compatible. We had to use a PC which worked fine. Also, for as much as the product costs it did not come with an instruction manual so there was no easy way to troubleshoot why the photoframe was not working with our Mac. All that being said, it is still the best photoframe I have come across.
Customer Review: Lemon alert! Summary: 1 Stars
Tried to load pictures on it for 3 days and then it died. Frame is black and will not restart. I called tech support and the guy pretty much said they usually die after a couple months or out of the box. They never work for a few days then die. Go figure mine did. When it was working, what should have been a simple loading process was very confusing. I could only fit about 2MB of pictures on the internal memory even though there is supposedly 32MB of space on it. Anyway, it's a nice looking frame when it works... too bad they need to get the bugs out first.
Customer Review: Pretty Alright, but not perfect Summary: 4 Stars
Impressive list of features (when picture frame turns on and off during the day/weekend, battery backup for placing on table top), solid build quality, good enough size for a decent-sized room, and neat photo transitions. However, I still fail to understand why digital picture frames do not have the resolution, contrast, and brightness of lcd computer monitors. I haven't seen one with better resolution (fairly exhaustive review and research was involved), just slightly disappointed overall with the resolution/clarity/contrast.
Customer Review: Pretty darn good! Summary: 4 Stars
Overall, this frame is very good. The picture quality is excellent. It looks great up close or far away. I recommend using a memory card because the frame would not accept any photos with high resolution. I don't know why, but I couldn't get it to work right. With a card it works great. I have a card reader on my computer, so putting pics on it is a breeze. Once you get used to the interface, it's easy to navigate. A remote would have been a really nice touch, but overall I would definitly recommend this product.
Customer Review: Great gift, spotty customer support Summary: 5 Stars
This is a FABULOUS gift for grandparents if you preload the pictures. Just be aware that the customer support folks are not that knowledgeable, probably since the product is new. Don't bypass their software to load the pix if you're transferring from your PC to the frame - their software reduces the memory needed for each one. And even though the software for different size frames is labelled the same, it is not compatible and you can only have one version installed on your pc at a time.
