Customer Review: flawless... almost
Summary: 5 Stars

My apartment faces the empire state building couple of blocks down, so this unpowered antenna was all I needed to pick up all the local channels in HD. After some research at avsforums, I found out that this philips model is virtually equivalent to the zenith silver sensor (mentioned over and over on the forums). I was skeptical at first, due to its ridiculously low price and flimsy construction, but it works flawlessly paired up with my sony xbr4. If you have a clear path to your local broadcasting tower, this antenna should do the trick for free local HD channels... it's a bit ugly (ok, it's a total eyesore...), but it draws no power and gives crystal clear reception.

Customer Review: excellent performance at at great price
Summary: 5 Stars

I had previously tried both a regular antenna with rabbit ears and a UHF loop for HDTV and a starship enterprise looking antenna from Radio Shack. I live in Madison, WI on the west side of the city within 5-7 miles of the TV towers. The ABC station signal had frequent drop-outs with a signal strength of 70-75 through my Dish Network HDTV tuner. The Philips Silver Sensor pulls in signal strengths in the upper 80's for the ABC station and upper 90's to 100 for the CBS and NBC stations. I can also view the multiple PBS digital stations that were not possible at all with the previous antennas. I am very please with the performance of the Philips product.

Customer Review: Not good enough in Ann Arbor
Summary: 2 Stars

This failed to pick up a consistent signal here in Ann Arbor, no matter where I put it. It seems that an indoor antenna isn't powerful enough in this area; you'll need either an outdoor antenna, or cable. It's about 40 miles from here to Detroit, where the nearest TV signals originate, so I'd infer that you have to be closer than that to the source in order for this device to be useful.

The device is also clumsier and less attractive than its picture might suggest. Keep in mind that it's more than a foot wide and just as long (from front to back); think carefully about where you're going to put it before you buy it.

Customer Review: Say Goodbye to the Cable Bill!
Summary: 5 Stars

My wife and I have been finding new ways to pinch pennies due to the poor economy. I decided that I'd try to find a way to lessen the pound of flesh Comcast takes from us every month for television (after all, we mainly only watch the free channels, anyway). We live in the 3rd story of an apartment complex in Eden Prairie, MN (about 20 miles away from most of the towers). After finding the best spot in the apartment for the antenna and some tweaking, I was amazed to discover that we were able to receive all of the major networks in crisp HD quality. This antenna has and will continue to pay for itself many, many times over.

Customer Review: as good as the electric ones
Summary: 4 Stars

I am still off the cable tv grid and not too far from the broadcast towers. But I am in a bit of a valley that can cause reception problems. I have tried a couple of the electric powered rabbit ears from Radio Shack and Philips and wasn't all that satisfied with them. This antenna doesn't need power and does as well as or a little better than the powered rabbit ears. It is a lot easier to deal with. I use it for a small tv in the kitchen where I can move it around if I need to. It won't solve your tough reception situations and isn't as good as a well placed outdoor or attic antenna, but it is a better than the rabbit ears.
