Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Peerless SF640 Universal Fixed Low-Profile Wall Mount for 23" to 46" Displays (Black)

Customer Review: Not fancy, but does the job...
Summary: 5 Stars

I bought this simple mount to put a Magnavox 37MF 321 D , 37-inch LCD TV on the wall, or more accurately, on my new "entertainment center" that I built into a standard 4-inch sheet-rocked wall.My new entertainment center only requires two inches of living room space, replacing a CRT TV and entertainment center that required over 26 inches of valuable living room real estate! This made a BIG difference in our 16X18 living room. While there are a few design features that could probably be improved on, overall it proved up to the task. It mounts the TV nice and flat, and there seems to be plenty of lateral adjustment to get the screen level and straight. I did have to shorten a few bolts with a hacksaw; if making a few minor alterations such as this is beyond your capabilities, you probably shouldn't be doing this job yourself anyway. If possible get a friend to help hold the TV, especially when making your cable connections to the TV just before hanging it. I actually managed this by myself, but a helper would have been very useful.
If you are looking for a fancy, tilt and swivel mount with lots of features(which will also stick out further from the wall), look elsewhere. If you just need a simple mount to hang your TV flat on the wall, this is just the thing.Overall, an inexpensive mount that does the job.

Customer Review: Not completely "Universal"
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this wall mount for an LG 26LG30 flat screen LCD based on a search in the Peerless website. It's a well made piece, comes with great instructions and pretty much every screw/fastener known to the AV mounting world. The issue with the LG and the Peerless together is that the vertical brackets lay right over both the input section on one side and the electric cord input on the other - yikes! I happen to have a handy brother who notched one side to allow for an RCA component plug to have some breathing room. The other side was cut so that it didn't interfere with the AC plug. Neither of these modifications upset the integrity of the mount. In addition, I mounted a "clock" electrical outlet and moved the cable outlet to the center area directly behind the TV and ran the wires up through the wall for a super clean look. I would recommend purchasing right-angle RCA adapters for wiring up with this mount since it lays so close to the wall. This allows for the wires to not be squished. If I had to do it all over again, I would have purchased a mount that had a arm and plate that only covered and screwed directly into the four mounting holes on the back of the TV. My advice: check the layout of your TV inputs on the back before proceeding!

Customer Review: Wrong wall mount.
Summary: 2 Stars

This wall mount was recommended when I bought my 32" flat screen television... I figured I could not go wrong, especially since this is Amazon I was dealing with. Very few if any problems with anything in the past.So I just bought it with the t.v. Turns out that this is not the right mount for the t.v. and I would have to shop around to find the right one. I spent two days trying to find the right mount and failed miserably. Finally I took my drill and some bolts from the local hardware store and "made the mount work". I really don't know what could be done otherwise except for sending the mount back to Amazon... but I would have still had the problem of how to hang the television on the wall. The prices for the right mount are unbelievably high and the wait would have been too long to get it. There was an issue of where to store the t.v. until I got the mount. This t.v. was being used in a public building. Timing was also an issue. I feel I was put in a bad situation... (Not typical for Amazon)...but none the less, a problem that should have never happened. I recommend better research before suggesting one product to be used in conjunction with another. As a buyer, I wlll be more cautious in the future...lesson learned.

Customer Review: Decent mount BUT, they failed to mention one very important thing...
Summary: 1 Stars

First and foremost, just like others have stated make sure it works with your panel...it's a simple phone call. I called and support was quick and verified that my new 40" Toshiba LCD panel works. Their on-line fit utility is somewhat vague and didn't seem to refresh right after selecting my panel, so just call to be sure.

Okay for the ringer on this product. They fail to mention both on the Amazon description and in the paperwork that the mounting wall plate will only work on walls with studs 16" OC of less. My studs and many other homes in the area are 24" OC. So am I going to return the product? NO! I don't have the time...I'm thrifty in my wood shop so I mounted the plate to ¼" red oak strips to effectively lengthen the wall plate to reach two studs on each end. One end of the plate is actually anchored to a stud, it's the other end that is simply mounted to the red oak strip in which that end is mounted to a stud. Don't simply mount the plate to a wood strip w/o at leas anchoring one side top and bottom to a stud. Actually, I don't recommend this, just stating for explanation purposes.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in previous reviews, so sorry for any duplicate data here.

Customer Review: Solid piece of hardware
Summary: 5 Stars

Very solid, well manufactured, very secure mounting bracket. I am not a fan of those cantilever arm mounts (use those only out of neccesity). And yes it this is a very low profile mounting bracket. A very smart purchase!

Of particular helpfull installation note, yes it is perhaps a bit more to install, but this will actually hold to plain dry wall (for a relatively small/medium LCD screen) the supplied plastic anchors completely wing out and open providing a secure backing. The giant and I do mean giant tapcon mounting bolts are actually too big to drive into the plastic anchors.

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND PRESCREW THEM BEFORE OR THEY WILL JUST SPIN IN THE WALL AND YOU WILL GET NO WHERE, HOLD THE PLASTIC ANCHOR WITH PLIARS AND YOU WILL BE ALL SET.

My studs were way off set for my choice of installation, I was able to grab onto one wood stud on the side, but becuase of the great anchors supplied I have full confidence holding to plain drywall.

Special note, if I did get the articulaing arm mounts (cantilever) I would have be screwed (bad), the small spacing (weight distribution) would NOT have held even my medium LCD panel. I would NOT have trusted those kinds of mounts.
