Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Peerless SA740P Articulating LCD Wall Mount for 22-40" LCD Screens (Black)Customer Review: Works as advertised Summary: 4 Stars
I needed to place my TV over a fireplace. Because the studs are not regular in this space I decided to go with the articulating arm, which I could anchor on the side. I used this for a Samsung LNT4065F 40" 1080p LCD HDTV and it works great. The arm is very solidly built and the included hardware holds it solidly in the stud. It has sufficient adjustments to help in setting the alignment. I subtracted 1 star because the directions were poor on how to do this. The movable arm allows easy access to the rear which helps in making all the necessary connections. And the arm has built in guides to help support and hide the peripheral cables and power cord. I am happy with my purchase and recommend this item.
Customer Review: Quality product Summary: 5 Stars
I looked at several mounting units in the Big Box stores and they were poorly made. This Peerless mounting unit is well designed and the quality is incredible. Adjustments are easy and hold firmly. Another reason for my selecting this one was the availability of the black color to match the T.V. I helped my neighbor install a different brand a few weeks ago and after fastening the bracket to the wall we had to hold the T.V. up to the unit while trying to align the screws to attach it (Not easy). This Peerless allows you to install the bracket to the wall and then screw the mounting plate to the T.V. while it is placed on a table (padded) and then lift the Screen and slip it into the secure slot arrangement making it a one person easy install. I would buy this product again and also recommend it highly.
Customer Review: Better than expected Summary: 5 Stars
Honestly after reading all the reviews I expected to get a great mount to attach my 32" Toshiba LCD TV to my bedroom wall. I needed an arm like this because the TV was to be mounted towards a corner and I needed to be able to point it towards the middle of the room while also tilting down some.
I was pleasantly surprised at the craftsmanship of this arm. It's machine work is probably better than alot that you'd find on an airplane's moving parts. The finish is very nice.
Attaching it to the wall was as easy as using a stud finder and level to find the right location and then screwing in the two huge screws that came with it. I do not worry about the TV coming off the wall!
Great buy! No way can a $300 mount from a big box store beat this!!!
Customer Review: Works, but feels very unsecure! Summary: 3 Stars
I mounted this to a cinder block wall in my bedroom and was surprised buy how easy it was to accomplish. I have mounted other lcd's before and this mount gives freedom for mistakes as you can adjust the brackets until everything is lever. By the far the easiest mount ever!
The reason for the 3 stars is because once the mount is on the wall and you attach the bracket with the lcd, it feels very loose. The two hooks that are supposed to fit on the mount don't sit all the way and and tv is very wobbly. As far as it being sturdy from the wall, it is, but if you have this thing articulating anything less than 6" you would wish for something that feels stronger.
I ended up buy the Sanus vm400s for only $50 dollars more and it is a 100 times more sturdy and secure!
Customer Review: The best LCD Wall Mount Summary: 5 Stars
Peerless SA740 LCD TV Wall Mount
After considerable research, I found this one to exceed requirements and expectations. Built like a tank, its articulation and design allow convenient, safe and clean wiring. At first sight, however, I was a bit concerned about the rather small distance between the foot attachment screws, thinking that 7 inches was too little. A simple calculation will show that the pull on the upper screw will be approximately 171 lbs for a 50 lb TV, and shear stress is not a problem here. But the installation was sturdy and reliable. Whatever method is used to locate the wooden stud (2"x4"), it is important to insert the screws as near as possible to the middle of the studs. Drilling of a pilot hole is not necessary if your drill has enough torque.
