Digital Cameras Photo Reviews of Palm 3199WW Cradle Kit for Tungsten E2/T5/TX and LifeDrive

Customer Review: Quick, convenient, but sticks a little
Summary: 4 Stars

I ordered this product for use with my Palm TX and I have been generally happy with it. The Palm fits securely in the cradle, which has a small foot print. The cradle also has a metal rod that wraps around the back to hold the plug firmly in the cradle and to prevent the cradle from falling over with the handheld in it. Smart design. The cradle also holds my Palm at a good angle for viewing at my desk.

The reason that it got 4 out of 5 stars is that the Palm fits so snuggly into the cradle that it is difficult to remove with just one hand. I frequently need to hold the cradle down withe one hand and then take the Palm out with the other, maintaining a specific angle. A bit cumbersome, but its a trade-off for the the Palm being secure in the cradle. Some might find it annoying.

Customer Review: Looks nice but not as functional as my old Clie Cradle
Summary: 3 Stars

Perhaps I was spoiled.

Based on my experience with my old Sony Clie, I expected to be able to seat and unseat my PDA with one hand. However, I find myself trying to align the unit with the connector each time I set it in the cradle. The instruction to "lift straight up" does not seem to be doing the trick for me in removing the unit. I end up using two hands and still some what struggling. I am concerned I will damage it. Perhaps after I try out the cables, I will have a greater appreciation for the cradle.

I find the always on light to be sort of odd. However, it is handy when I want to step into my office and set the PDA on the unit without turning on the lights. The thing is like a beacon! (Which is a good thing...one needs plenty of light to use this cradle.)

Customer Review: All expectations accomplished
Summary: 5 Stars

Since quite before purchasing this gadget, I already knew it was a simple accessory with the solely purpose of sync and charge my handheld while keeping it organized vertically in a craddle. The craddle itself is very stylish, and the light is not annoying at all, as some other reviewers have been writing about, especially if you are working in a well-illuminated office -- this is my case. If you can organize the cables far or close enough from your USB port (the provided cables are too long, which can be necessary sometimes, but may also result in a messy desk if you work in a small place), you will have no significant problems on working with this craddle bounded to your desktop computer or even your laptop. Simple, stylish and do all the purposes, and with a great price.

Customer Review: T|X cradle
Summary: 4 Stars

I've been very satisfied with this product. Here are what I consider its high and low points:

1) simple, unobtrusive, stylish design. trendy matte silver color. soft white LED uplights.
2) international use.
3) minimal HotSync button
4) good connector fit with my open-bottom Sena leather case (a bit tight though).
5) not too keen on its light weight and protruding wire stabilizer.
6) because it's light, have to use two hands to remove T|X from base.
7) because it's small, not much room to hold unit down as I use the other hand to remove T|X from base.
8) would rather have LED uplights turn on only when charging the T|X, instead of being on all the time (since the T|X doesn't have its own charging LED).

Customer Review: Very bad quality product
Summary: 1 Stars

I was used to old Palms which used to have a cradle included in the package. Well, I bought a T5 with no cradle and decided to purchase a cradle separately. I got two of these kits and I am very disappointed: both sync-buttons didn't work and I had to open the cradles and fix them; and, unlike the old ones, the base is very unstable. Worst: I wanted to complain directly to Palm, but there's no E-Mail address for customer communication! Where's the quality control? No customer care policy??? Unfortunately, there's no alternative for the ones who need a cradle for the T5. Palm should care more for its customers and have a more responsible quality control policy. Better thinking, there's an alternative: buy a Pocket-PC!!!
